What is the weirdest thing you have ever found inside a bale of hay?  A couple of times, we've found dead snakes, mice and pieces of trash. Today however, we found an unopened package of donuts. Some poor farmer somewhere out in the fields of Arizona lost his breakfast.  If you can describe your donuts I will return them to you..(One may be missing for quality control.)

A tree.

Now it was a small 3 footer but it was the entire tree, roots and all. Found a new hay supplier quickly.

A rabbit.... And a few babies scattered throughout the bale...
We unroll round bales for our cattle in the winter so all can eat at once... Found the mom first, then two or three babies. It was hay we baled ourselves. I felt terrible...

A dead deer in a round bale.  The other day I found an orange rag attached to a 4" round magnet......in a small square bale.

we traded a load of our horse hay for a neighbors "horse hay"-to feed our steers-we called it the "what will we find today hay"  beer cans, tshirt, underwear (yes!) misc iron-it was unbelieveable-for the record this guy has got to be a crook-it was awful stuff and our steers didn't even really like it-I've deemed myself a great neighbor for trading hay with her.....

We found ceramic pieces off a high-line pole. There were several bales with them in it. Some bigger pieces and then some smaller.

I have found your average snake and rodent. For that reason when I feed I always PULL MY FLAKES apart by hand and put them in the feed tubs. I don't want one getting sick. The times I have found this stuff, I immediately call and have it picked up.

Years ago my dad was cutting hay and stopped abruptly in by the road, waving for me to come and look. I went down to check it out and there was an entire decaying deer carcass - probably got hit by a car. Disgusting and I'm glad he saw it!!!

Man I hope that all the ones that found animal parts and what nots in their hay found a different hay supplier, that is horrible what some of you guys have found.. I help with baleing at times and have never seen anything like that, sounds like they are baling along roads and highways.

I got an arrow in mine the other day! It was new and in good shape, too. I'm hoping I get more.

Finding small animals, although unwanted, happens when they don't get out of the way fast enough. We bale our own and usually get a few snakes, and ocassionally a rabbit, and one time a duck. Those of you finding junk probably are getting ditch hay.. and the dead deer? Someone who doesn't give a darn must have baled that :-/

I know up here in the North it's fairly common to get young deer with a swather too. The does bed their fawns down in the hay fields, & instinctively fawns stay put until their mothers come get them. Even with a giant piece of farm equipment bearing down on their hiding spot, many won't try to jump up and run until it's too late.

You do have to cut the balers a little slack. They're not always responsible for what Mother Nature leaves in their path or irresponsible hunters and field workers.....and in some areas illegal immigrants who throw their trash down wherever they happen to be at the time.

That is so sad. :(  I wasn't expecting deer parts.  I was expecting stories of condoms or something along those lines. LOL
