What are some older saddles that are often overlooked now days? Any hidden treasures out there that fit a horse well and don't cost an arm and a leg?

The OLD double j's are pretty nice for an old saddle in my opinion :)

Older Circle Y's. Mine had to have been from the early 90's and literally fit everything. I rode lots of horses in that saddle! Wish I still had it but I had a few very bad accidents in it and I'm superstitious, so I sold it!

Yep the 90's made, I had 2 of them that I got, one about 95 and the other one was in 98 I think and I regret selling them both, one was a square skirt and a round skirt. I'm always watching the ads hoping I will see one of them up for sale, lol..

There are circle Y Josey's for sale every time I go into Teskey's too look.
Never thought to sit in one. They're cheap too. I'll see if I can find them on their website or google.
Found them!

I have a Shiloh that I won in 2006 that I love! Really like how it sits and it doesn't keep my legs to far forward and its easy to move around in.

I've tried just about everything out there and always go back to my Shiloh!

Totally agree on the older Martha Josey's but would steer clear of the Ultimate...the forward hung fenders are not for everybody.  I owned one and couldn't get rid of it fast enough.  You can tell the Ultimates by the roundish white leather patch at the top of and in front of the fenders.  My MJ is probably 20 years old.....sits nicely and fits everything.  Might be hard to find one these days.

I have an old circle y Karen Mosteller that is as solid as they come. I've not see another like it.

Also my daughter rides an old Ammerman that is a nicely built saddle. Fits anything I put it on.

I tell people all the time look for a solid older saddle instead of buying the cheaper saddles that are out today.

The Ammermans are another great saddle, even the newier ones are built good and solid. The Circle y's have gone down hill over the years..

I agree. There is no consistency with the quality of the new circle y's. I bought an XP Bell Circle Y about 5 years ago that is a nicely made saddle but I looked at Lockhart the same day and there was nails sticking out and it was already coming apart and it hadn't even been rode in.
