So were helmets and fringe just a temporary fad? I see although Fallon still wears her helmet, she has lost the fringy breast collar and blingy look. Yes she says for speed but I also see some of her followers loosing the breast collars and wild colors here lately. I've also seen a decrease in the number of people wearing helmets, here locally at least. Trends are fun, but they never last!

I'm a plain leather find somtheing that matches everything look! I also wear my helmet while riding my colts lol.

I will continue to wear my helmet...and I just got my gelding some fringe cause my mare hated that stuff.  I also am one of the last people to change cause I have a hard time spending money on the expensive tack.  LOL.

I've been wearing a helmet for five years. It's like a second skin to me, and I will continue to wear one no matter what Fallon does. I'm not a follower of hers. As to fringe, it's a fad just like sparkly bling etc. I prefer pretty tooling on high quality leather. Never goes in or out of style.

Love my helmets and wear them every single time I ride and have for several years now.  Have never been a fringe or bling fan and never will be, but I do wish the trend would continue simply because it is good for the company I work for.  Haha

I just got back from Dixie Nationals in Jackson MS and about half the people had on helmets. That is not my area of the country so I do not know if that is the norm. Around here, I used to be the only person with a helmet but now there are quite a few.

Feels more normal to me to ride with a helmet than without...so it's not going anywhere. But I refuse to pay big $$ for a crazy colored one when I replace it every year to 18mo or when I fall.

Fallon left Ranch Dressin who made a lot of her crazy outfits, so I suspect that's where the lack of fringe was. Kimmie Wall I think is still sponsored by them and was pretty bright, no fringe though.

I've never understood it on breastcollars, I feel like it would get sweaty and nasty. But then again my everyday working tack is what I run in too.

I am seeing more helmets. Last year Fallon announced she was going with a new sleeker style.

I think all of those trends eventually fade away. I have seen more helmets than ever, so I don't think that is considered a "trend." However, I remember when those HUGE blingy breastcollars that looks like belts were "in" a few years ago. Then it went to the more like southwestern Aztec look and then fringe was added. Just as I remember all the bright colored Rockies and crazy colored shirts. I for one, had orange, yellow, purple, blue pants LOL.

I really like FT new look, I like the more western look but with still some brighter colors incorporated in. I did ask on the model search thing is she was still affiliated with ranch dressn and whoever was posting it for her, said she was so not sure if that rumor is true.

I think trends and fads come and go and that will never change. I have noticed the mohair and beaded look seems to be coming back around.

Our local saddle club had it's first show of the year this past weekend and I was blown away with the number of people riding in helmets. Huge increase from previous years.

Fringe is a fad, but Helmets are going to be around for a long long time, I think helmets will be the new hat in the furture with all the new and up coming barrel racers. Helmets have always been part of the English riders world and I think it will be for the Western riders too as time gos by.

Here in So Cal neither of those things are dwindling. There is a producer here that is putting on Helmet races where you have to wear one to enter and they are getting a great turn out.

I've worn a helmet since I was 5 years old (now 30). I will always wear one when I ride ..... and I will probably always be the only one at a barrel race that wears one, in my area.

Personally, I've never liked the fringe breastcollars. Just not my thing.

Fringe has never really not been in style....  It has become super popular recently but has always been a staple in western fashion and lifestyle. It may decrease in popularity for a bit in the future but will come back around, just like bell bottoms :)

I havent noticed a decrease in helmets or fringe in my area.

Fringe makes equine athletes look ridiculous.  If they could talk they'd tell you that.

Yes I would!!!!!
