| My vet told me that Pentosan was on backorder right now. Is anyone else finding this or know of somewhere reliable to get it? I've never used it before so didn't know if there are more options for getting it? |

| You can get it without prescription from horseprerace.com or racehorsemeds.com. I have used both and never had a problem. |

used to use the 6ml dose from pre race-when my DVM heard this she wrote the script for Wedgwood and said to be safe and cost less

How much do you use for one horse? I have an appt with my vet next week to talk about starting my gelding on it, and the dose I looked up says around 6.5mL IM four times with 7 days in between each dose, so I would need around 26mL for a month's treatment.
I'm glad you are ordering through a legit pharmacy (even if it isn't the one I work for LOL), the sites that don't require a prescription make me nervous. |

Stop telling people to order from this company!! They are a FAKE!! Do your homework on how may countless cases the FDA have against them for selling unidentifiable substances in their bottles. I ordered pentosan from them last year because you rave about them Flitastic and IT IS NOT THE SAME!!! MY MARES GOT HORRIBLE REACTIONS TO THE SHOTS!! I contacted the company to hit dead ends, literally NO ONE....Stay far far away from these people!!! If it does not require a RX ITS NOT THE REAL RX YOU ARE GETTING!!!!! |

Hopefully they will get shut down soon. So do you use 6ml once a week for four weeks? I'm new to Pentosan but I've heard great things about it and I can't wait to start mine on it. |

Horses can have reactions to anything. I have used it for years and so have many on this board. I am sorry your horse had a reaction. My horse had a reaction, worse than you describe, to his annual vaccines this past February. The pentosan from HPR has literally kept my horse sound that had a broken navicular bone. Went from coffin joint injections several times a year to none with monthly HPR pentosan injections. |

Did you give it IM? I was told by my vet not to. Horses HAVE REACTIONS to things. My vet said Lasix was safe to give IM and guess what.... MY MARE HAD A HORRIBLE REACTION TO IT..... |

Well in my area they are. They werent very happy that I had seen on one of these forms that someone got a 100ml bottle for $166 from the same pharmacy that they use. When I first called them about it she said they use a pharmacy for pentosan and it was $200+ through them. |

TOTALLY AGREE, plus HPR is labeled for IV....... so maybe there is a reason its supposed to be IV and not IM. |
