Mare magic is just raspberry leaves and you can find them much much cheaper in bulk (even food grade certified organic if you so desire).

The magnesium in the raspberry leaves is what can help, I've even seen it balance some geldings out. As cheap as you can get them it would be my starting place to try.

While I don't have any mares, I've had a lot of luck with Silver Lining Herbs for different issues. If you want to try it, I can get you a code for 10% off!

You can buy 1 lb of raspberry leaves for under $20 on amazon. I have fed it to my mares for years.

CRUSHED raspberry leaves. You can get online from any herb store. Have used them for about 10 years. I feed about a fist full once a day.

I buy raspberry leaf at the little health food store in town. They have it in bulk and I fill up a produce sized plastic bag. I just started feeding it this week. About a fistful a day in their grain. Normally I can't tell when my mare comes in, but last year this time she was pastured by herself for the first time and she began breaking through the fence and running the pasture. I wasn't feeding any raspberry leaf then. This year she has my daughter's mare with her and I figured it would be smart to get ahead of the game. They are starting to shed, so I figured now is the time.

Performance Mare by oxygen. Helps make their cycles less noticeable and helps them with ovary pain etc. It's worked on every mare I've tried it on.

My mare has very painful heats, ovary pain, etc.. Bumping and rubbing up against stuff. She pees every time another horse walks by her, swishes her tail etc... But she is a true 1D work horse. Finally talked to my vet and we put her on Regumate and she is EXTREMELY THANKFUL!!!! Nice, calm, relaxed, happy happy girl!

Really thinking of trying some herbs like Mare Magic or something else to help with the witchy attitudes one of my mares is towards other horses and just on the ground basically. Very moody. Treated her for ulcers already. She's had the winter off, so she's not sore, I'm going to start legging her up in a week. I've heard some mention Herb n Horse. Anyone have any proof that herbs can help? Thanks!

If I may ask, what are some of the things your mare is doing? I have a 22 yo broodmare who has decided she does not like one of the other mares & will chase her relentlessly!! The old mare will go til her sides are heaving & she is drenched in sweat, if the other mare doesn't fight back.
There are 5 horses, 3 mares & 2 geldings, oldest is the broodmare 22, then the mare she doesn't like is 9, broodmares filly 4, broodmares 2yo gelding & 8 yo gelding. They have all been together all of their lives!!!!

The old mare aborted in October. I didn't notic her doing this til the last 3 weeks. She's always been the boss mare & the other mare, I do not believe, would challenge her.

I have a vet appt for the old mare Friday, just looking for ideas or answers or anything!!!!

My mare is just plain ole "witchy" or acts like a ''diva" I call it. She's not a witch to ride at all...but cranky at her one other pasturemate that's a mare, and one gelding. I just treated her a full 30 days for ulcers. She's also cinchy, like pins her ears, but that's it, gets over it. No kicking. She's a crank just in general when other horses come up to me at a show, LOL so I'm just looking for something to take that crankiness away if at all possible. No she's not sore, she just came off a long 4 month winter break too :)

Have you had your vet check her reproductive system for problems, like cysts or infections? Do you have the vet do a Caslick's during competition months? Just thinking out loud.

Do they have independent dealers? I've always ordered directly from SLH and use the coupon brendamays. I have seen it in stores occasionally.
