Probably the silliest question ever but are there any barrel racers out there that just don't use a back cinch? What's the reason? What's the reason FOR using one if you do?

I do. Always have and always will. I dont have my "roper tight" but it is definitely snug. I also use a breastcollar. I have seen way to many people use one but its loose enough to stick a back leg thru. Or ones without the strap connecting the back cinch to the front.

I use one, it's snug. One of my absolute pet peeves is a hanging back cinch. Has to be annoying sliding around back there and a danger should a fall happen and a back foot get caught.

I figure if any equipment fails, either cinch or breastcollar, I want the other two there and ready to help prevent further catastrophe or at least help me get to the ground slower.

My other equipment pet peeve is tie downs that aren't in a keeper. I've see that one go south during a fall when a front leg went through the tie down, it's not pretty.

I start my horses with one and may remove it later but I want them used to it because I tend to use my horses for work around the property and it may be needed.

I don't use one. I would only use it if I found my saddle popped up at all in a run but luckily it doesn't. I'm that person that the back cinch would break or the keeper would let loose and suddenly I'd have a bronc strap.

I pretty much always use one. I think it keeps even pressure and feel more secure. I also use a breastcollar when running but not normally for flat work or trail riding.

I have one on my Double J saddle and use it then.  My Caldwell does not have one.  Honestly, can't really tell much difference.

I wish I had had one years ago when I was in a very bad horse accident. I believe if I did have one, the outcome would have been much different.
I use one today and always will as on a different occasion, it kept my saddle from rolling under my horse when my leather off billet snapped in half riding in a brand new saddle. It's kept pretty snug but not roper tight like stated above.

Yes, always have always will! and have them touching but night tight.

Ever seen a saddle slapping a horses back as it runs or coming in or out of a turn?!

If one goes to bucking, I dont need the saddle adding any encouragement to coming off.

My older saddle does not have one, while my new saddle does. I feel that when riding my new saddle, when using spurs, the back cinch gets in the way.

Yes and it's snug!!!  It takes the pressure off the withers.

You know why calf ropers have their back cinch so tight?  So the jerk isn't being absorbed so much on the shoulders and withers of the horse.  I'll never ride without one.

Yes...Always have..Always will.

Go and watch a video of people running without a back cinch and watch the back of the saddle flopping up and down on the horse's back.

Yes. I feel it is a safety issue, as well as a comfor issue for my horse. I feel much more secure with a rear cinch, and the saddle moves less.  When this big girl goes around a corner, let's just say I am pulling some G's. I need to know that the saddle is not gonna move.  It is snug, but not tight. (also, yes, to the breast collar. Same reason.)
