We were given a 2% chance to compete again 15 months ago. So very blessed to make a run. Now to work on some things like that second barrel and using that outside hand way too much.

It has been a journey that's for sure.

All the prayers from everyone tipped the odds I am sure.

So awesome! I bet that was an amazing feeling to get to run him again.

Do you care to share a brief summary of what you went through? I have one that I am still trying to get sound after a septic hock, but we haven't given up hope yet!

This makes me so very happy, Tmain!  It has been a journey and that horse is so blessed that you are his owner and refused to give up.  I know the last couple years have been hard for many reasons, but I also believe there are some pretty awesome things coming for you in your future!  I couldn't be any prouder for you!

So awesome! I bet that was an amazing feeling to get to run him again.

Do you care to share a brief summary of what you went through? I have one that I am still trying to get sound after a septic hock, but we haven't given up hope yet!

He sprained the Impar ligament in his foot. We decided to do Tildren, shock wave and IRAP.

He received the first dose of Irap on 1/2/2016 by the 7th he was non weight bearing and rushed back to the hospital.

Upon admission the said the odds were not good, but prompt treatment was key. They started IV antibiotics, regional limb perfusion and lavage of the navicular bursa.

He was difficult so every joint lavage required anesthesia. He had 6 operations. Mid way he was sound and the went south. Many weeks the bill was over 3500.

I brought him home as I exhausted our savings, we do not do credit.
He coliced due to the large amounts of banamine that he was taking. He was on Gastro guard.

30 days after his release I took him back to be evaluated- they were surprised that he was alive. They didn't think they had cleared the infection. He was still 4/5 lame but still alive.

Over the next 6 months his whole boot grew a purple line- I think he was very close to losing his hoof. He had bruises the size of silver dollars on his sole. Some of the bruises abscesses. His hocks started to agressively fuse and swelled until like watermelons.
He really started to become sound in October and now is about the same level of soundness that we were prior to the first injury.

I think there will be a check ligament surgery in his future soon.
His X-rays show no arthritic changes to the coffin/ navicular region.

I put him on Cur-Ost upon his hospital release and I think that was the deciding factor in not sloughing his hoof.

This is only the hi-lights. It was a long journey and I had many doubts about putting him through the pain but he never said he was ready to go.
