| Looking for something to help out a nervous anxious mare at shows. Looking for something that I can feed. But nothing too expensive that's going to cost me an arm and a leg. |

| I use herbs for everything! So for my hotter horses, I give valerian root (powder form) in with their grain right before we leave, or right when we get there. Takes about 45 minutes to kick in. It works extremely well! They aren't knocked out like that are on ace, they are still attentive and aware. But it definitely calms them down a bunch. After using this on a horse that i otherwise could hardly settle down, i will never use anything else now :) just my personal experience! Hope this helped :) |

Location: Oklahoma | I'm a HUGE believer in the Mushroom Matrix ECP. It really helps with focus without making them dead heads. I bought for my stud and used it on him during breeding season. I had some of the best training rides on him. It allowed him to concentrate and focus on what I was asking of him, rather than concentrate on his mares next to the arena. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | I used to feed this too my Mare when we roped pretty heavily. It kept her level headed until we ran, yet she still had that fire we needed to make a good run. http://www.teskeys.com/formula-707-calming-essentials.html I also had this on hand just in case. http://www.teskeys.com/formula-707-calming-essentials-paste.html |

Location: Mississippi | I have had some good success with Via-Calm recently. I feed it daily to two of our geldings and one mare. On race day, I give one gelding a double dose - it has helped this one a lot. The other gelding, I can tell somewhat of a difference, but not with the double dose on race day - so he just gets it daily. The mare gets it daily then gets calming cookies on the day of a race - this combo works better for her.
I have tried a lot of these type supplements. I have seen more results from this than any others on these particular horses. I think that different horses are affected differently, and you just have to find what works for your particular horse. It can be very frustrating.
ETA - I have also looked at the Thunder Mountain Minerals. This would have been my next step if I had not had success with the Via-Calm.

Location: Georgia | Less high energy feed and alfalfa, more wet saddle pads. If that doesnt work magnesium, If that still doesnt help CUR-OST adapt and calm |

| I love giving my horses calming cookies, love that they're all natural and don't use any synthetic sedatives. |

How much Valerian Root do you give? Like comparable in 1 oz scoop? |
