| Who's got horses on it? Used it to no effect? How much difference does it make in aged horses needing some maintenance? |

Works great for any horse that ALREADY has arthritis issues. I use it on all my finished horses that have arthritis here and there or who are on joint injections. |

Flit, where do you get your pentosan? I just got a "free" gelding with some arthritis in his ankle. I will not be doing barrels on him, only pasture riding and gathering cattle from time to time. |

Location: Feeding mosquitos, FL | Wonderful amazing stuff. My open mare was being injected about every eight months. On Pentosan monthly, she's been over a year since the last set of hocks. |

| My mare with spurs in her hocks is on a monthly dose of Pentosan. I buy the pentosan platinum from horseprerace.com. My vet told me I would need to inject every 3 months on her. That was in October. I started her on it then and OE Gamechanger in Jan. As of right now, she is not needing another set of injections. |

I get it from horse pre race or race horse meds. Never had a problem with it. |

| Great stuff! I could tell a complete difference in my mare. It lasted for almost seven months before I even got a hint that she was sore again even then it was minimal. |

How often do you give it and do you start with one dose every 4/7 days for a month?
Do you give it IM or IV?

Location: North Dakota | just ordered another bottle from Wedgewood pharmacy-your vet will need to call in a perscription but they are $166 for 100 ml of the 250 mg / ml bottle. All of mine that are confirmed arthritis via radiograph get pentosan-excellent for inflammation reduction. |

Protocol is 1 shot a week for 3-4 weeks then monthly. Normally its given IM but within last year IV is now on the pre race bottles. |

| My vet went through Wedgewood I believe. Did 1 shot every 5 days for 4 shots and now monthly. I'm just getting mine legged up from winter and haven't run yet, so can't really say how it works but they feel really good so far. |

Pentosan dose is 6cc for average sized horse. Same for loading and all follow up doses. Normally it's given IM. One word of caution , it's an anti coagulant so you don't want to give it closer than 2 days prior to an event in case they bleed. As for adequan comparison there is a great YouTube video about it. Just search " adequan vs pentosan" |

I can't find it. There are only 2 videos that come up under that search and neither have adequan in the title. One is a 1 minute long video about pentosan and the other is a 9 minute long video called current perspectives on pentosan. |

Second one. It's the one with the Australian guy narrating it. They did a side by side study in Australia comparing the two. |

Location: Michigan | I have used pentosan from horseprerace for the last several years with good results. I did have some very localized minor swelling at the injection sites a time or two, but injecting slowly seems to solve the problem.
Regular pentosan shows IM, while pentosan gold is IV.
My regimine last year was loading dose of pentosan with boosters shot every 2-3 weeks depending on race schedule. I would also give polyglycan IV the day before the race. This worked very well last year and I am planning the same this year. |
