Feed throughs are a crap shoot. No real research that they actually do much. I like injectables better. Maybe adequan would be your best shot if horse has no issues. Or for the horses age pentosan.

I agree... there isn't really evidence of feed supplements actually being absorbed or getting to where they're needed. Keeping your horse healthy and in shape is good maintenance. Otherwise, something like Adequan or even just acetyl-D if you want a cheaper option (yes, I know it's not the same thing).

Actiflex or animed MSN. I've fed actiflex for years...it's affordable and works!

There is a little cheaper version of Adequan (since you say she doesn't currently seem to be having many issues) called Ichon. You might try that. I second the idea of spending your money on injectables.

Does anyone go the Cosequin route?

I did twice several years apart but didn't notice any differences. But one was when they first came out on the market and then when they came out with the formula with avocado in it.

My vet likes Platinum CJ.  He said if a supplement doesn't have MSM and avacado in it it's no good.  I've been looking and so far Platinum is the one that has both.

Has anyone on here tried the Santa Cruz Animal health version???? Essentially " Copied" all of Platinum's formulas and did it legally because they offer the product in PELLET form and not meal form like Platinum. They are local to me here in CA. But if you compare ingredient lists, they are IDENTICAL. Just wondered if anyone has used both. The Santa cruz version is quite a bit cheaper. The " CJ" version is 150 from platinum and 100 from Santa Cruz.

I'm seeing this, Avocado Soy Unsaponifiables, in the Platinum, but not in the one you asked about?

They may be identical according to label, but do they carry the NASC seal? Purity/Quality of the ingredients determine their strength and potency prior to formulation. Platinum, MVP, and other supplement companies are members of NASC which guarantees what is on the label is what you are getting. The NASC seal assures customers of the products forumla content.

I am so glad to see you post this Wrap! So many people don't understand what that seal means. I work for a supplement company and we do carry the seal and I get tired of people talking about the quality that might be in our product. I assure them that we use what is on the label and nothing else and they are of high quality!

I do too, and it gets tiresome hearing "Well X product has this much of this" and I'm like, but how do you know that?!

Also to add, there is one VERY popular company that absolutely refuses to join the NASC. . . That speaks volumes to me.

I noticed that Gateway products are NASC. They are good and I have used them in the past. And as far as I can tell, Santa Cruz animal health does NOT have NASC. I also noticed OE products are not NASC, THE is not NASC that I can see? Could have missed it though

This is why I have fed MVP products for over 10 years! The QUALITY of the product. They also offer a 60 day money back guarantee. Years ago I started my old barrel horse on Senior Flex by MVP. He ran until he was 27 with no injections. The horses I run now are on Exceed 6 way and they feel and look great. If you are interested in trying you can mesage me for an intro offer for Exceed 6 way. Here is a comparison chart for a few supplements. I love that the exceed also has high levels of Yucca. That combined with MSM and Glucosomine is great for joints. https://www.unitedvetequine.com/images/exceed2016.pdf
