Location: In the Hills of Texas | My two cents....We have had State Farm for over 30 years and when we had hail damage on our roof they took care of zip. Everyone else we know got a new roof....one was over 25 years old. |

| We've got Farm Bureau. I like that they understand sometimes people have to claim fences and offer a livestock rider if we ever get any high dollar horses out here. |

| Farm Bureau is very good and reasonable but they do not insure mobile homes. I have a double wide so I'm out |

Our farm bureau agent neglected to tell us that once we moved horses into our newly constructed barn it would need its own policy and was no longer covered under the homeowners policy. We found this out after a straight line wind destroyed my expensive roll up doors about 6 weeks after the horses moved in. |

Location: Kansas | State Farm just cancelled our policy. I'm totally disgusted with them. We've been with them for years and this came out of the blue. They want your premiums but don't want you to file any claims like for storm damage....you know hail wind silly stuff like that.

This is interesting. Farm Bureau is coming Tuesday to give us a quote and I will ask him about that. What were you thinking, putting horses in your barn.

Location: Armuchee, GA, NW section of Ga | We had Farm Bureau for many many years, prob 20+. We had one incident where a drunk driver went off the road, ran thru our fence. Took out maybe 32 feet. And to kick it off, the drunk had Farm Bureau insurance too. The insurance company knew we had fencing and a farm with horses. We have the heavy duty white vinyl fencing, without any problems at all. Well we turned in a claim, and our agent, who we have had for a very long time said NOPE, dont cover fence, never have, never will. And he was supposed to be OUR agent. The one who supposed to look out for his clients, their best interests....nope. So after that we changed companies. LIberty Mutual.
BTW! The drunk also knocked down front gate tree & beddinge with sprinkler system, guess what, they replaced tree, repaired sprinkler, but not the fence. |

I know, silly me! Why would I ever build a horse barn and then let horses in it? When the shell was constructed, we asked about insurance and were told that it was covered under the homeowners policy. 3 months later, we finished the inside and moved the horses here. If we hadn't tried to file a claim, we probably still wouldn't know about that little stipulation. |

Location: Armuchee, GA, NW section of Ga | You might ask how many horses you are allowed to have....when we shopped insurance companies had a limit of 5, we have 6. Some companies have strange policies. Especially if you have dogs too. Some ask breed, some ask numbers. Just a FYI

I saw some bad reviews on Allstate so didn't consider them in our search. Because your house needed painting.....of course. |

Location: Bandera, TX | I have State Farm and they paid very well for a new roof after hail damage. I might be the only one, but can't complain about them. My vehicles and trailer are with them too, and when everything was damaged during the same storm they handled that well too. |

Location: Lone Star State | We have Germania and bundle our house and auto together. Last year, an F3 tornado came through and leveled a wide path for miles. Took out our run in shed among other things as we were on the edge of the path. Even with all the claims around, they took care of us in a timely manner and gave us more than we expected back. Great experience. |

They did that for us too.....on a hail damaged shingle barn roof and some basement damage from water. End result........cancelled.

| Farm Bureau all the way ....
BUT - know that you need to itemize things on an umbrella policy in order to cover expensive fencing. Outbuildings, like barns or feed sheds, are itemized as well and evaluated by an underwriter for age/building shape (meaning if its old and falling down or brand new)/ etc.
They have fantastic liability insurance at reasonable costs and extra coverage is available for livestock too. |
