Location: LuluLand~along I64 Indiana | ok guys i need your best organizational skills. i just finished painting my tack room. i have a space 16x12. it has two walk thru doors and one window.
How do you have your saddles? bridles? Halters? Leadropes? Feed? Blankets? Pads? stored in your tack rooms. LOL its a blank slate. I did purchase a wall hanging cabnit to put medicine supplies in. its 36" by 48" by 10".
Tell me what you like in yours.... photos would be great if you will share. and Tell me what not to do. lol

| I put feed in Rubbermade trash cans to alleviate unwanted critters, but I still put out mice traps for winter. All bagged supplements up on a shelf or in an ice cream bucket or something similar.
I have a free standing 3 tier saddle rack which I set against the wall opposite of the door. That way you are straight out and straight in with saddles, less likely to bang it around and scuff it up.
I bought some 1x8 boards and metal hooks and made my own bridle/halter/odd/ends hanger. That way you can make whatever size you want.
I did purchase a blanket bar for saddles pads, but I always end up using the top tier of my saddle rack.
I put all unused turnout blankets, sheets, saddles blankets, cinches in Rubbermade tubs/cans. Too keep clean and critter free.
I keep all my grooming odds/ends in a cabinet in my aisle way near cross ties, so that keeps extra clutter out of your tack room.
Make sure you have good lighting.
You'll find your tack room will never be big enough! Hahahahaha! |

| We have 2 3-saddle racks and we'll probably buy a 3rd when we get our shop finished and move a shelf out of the room (heaving roping saddles up on that top rack sucks!)
I took 1x2's and made a frame on the wall, installed a piece of leg board over it and that is where all my bits and such hang.
We welding old horseshoes down to make bridle hooks. Under one set of them we have a set of wooden pegs that we use to hang saddle pads up to dry on.
When we have that big shelf and a fridge moved out I want to do a wall cabinet for meds etc and more wall books.
Feed isn't stored in there, but is in trash cans. No blankets here to worry about.
It's usually a mess, we probably tear into it once every couple months and clean it well. I also keep one of the big buckets of damp rid in there to prevent most moisture related mildew. |

| If you mounted the buckets with a piece of pipe secured in I could see it working. Like mount the pipe sturdily to the wall, then screw the bucket onto the pipe....maybe.
Bucket alone I would not trust to hold up the weight. |

| I have no pics. But I bought cheap saddle racks to hang high. That way you can put stuff underneath them. Then I bought flat back bridle hangers to screw on the wall. One row high and the other lower underneath. My tack room is 10 x 12. |

You have storage space underneath for buckets or whatever else you want under them.
I also have an old set of kitchen drawers for brushes, screwdrivers and misc crap and a smaller wall cabinet for leg wraps polos and bell boots-usually bell boots are on a broom handle. All bridles are hung on boards with horseshoes bent in half and nailed to the board. I have several heavy duty bars about 18" long hanging above the saddles that hold rope bags or pop up barrels. Other than the saddle rack all of my stuff was picked up on the curb-people throw away pretty nice stuff! |

Location: Arkansas | Our tack room is also our laundry room but it is big (12x28? I think). We have a separate feed room. We have an 8 saddle spinning rack by Preifert (2 tiered). Our bridles are hung around the walls using metal bridle hooks that I ordered from horse.com. Blankets go under the saddles (there is a bar on the rack for them). Extra blankets go out in the barn on a blanket rack. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I have 2 of the bridle/tack carousel's by my door for the ones I use all the time and I have a 3 saddle stackable racks in the back corners of my tack room, they are so handy. I got the saddle racks at TSC..

Location: Tulsa, Ok | I also have an 8 saddle priefert spinning carousel rack. It has blanket bars below the racks. Bridle hooks are made from angle iron and used horseshoes. I also have an angleiron/horseshoe rack on the outside wall of my tack room for hanging the halters we use all the time. Easy to grab them up without having to go into the tack room. Also have a crate hanging on the outside wall to hold brushes where they are handy. |

Location: Phoenix | I would dedicate at least one wall to having storage racks and unused sheets and blankets in storage tubs. Oil your spare rains and then store them in a Ziploc bag and then in a storage tub. Group extra halters and lead ropes together and tub them also. Have a shelf or section for first aid type stuff....ointments, sprays etc. Having a fridge is really handy also. I'd want a blanket bar....I've attached some pics that I like.

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | My tack room is a 10x10 shed. The rubber made drawers and big containers are a life saver. My tack room used to my daddy's shed where he kept all his fishing stuff. He had 2 wooden 1x2s hanging in the ceiling parallel to each other so I took 2 T posts and hung the other way so it Forms a square. That's where I hang my pads. It's up above my head so it's out of the way at all times. Daddy built 3 wood saddle racks that fit in the corner but they weren't enough so I bought a 2 saddle wall mount. All my brides hang on bridle hooks that are nailed to peg board. |
