| Without wanting to start a heated discussion, can anyone explain to me WHY the price difference and long wait time to get an Elliott bit versus an Ed WRight? I tried one out this past weekend, but one of my Ed Wright's look similiar to me. The Elliott bit will cost me around $150+ shipping plus 6 weeks wait. I don't get this? What's the big difference between these and Ed's? |

Location: Deep South | If you ride in both and YOU can't tell a difference, then just buy the Ed Wright. Regardless of what anyone else says. The higher quality bits are more valuable to people who have developed more feel. That just comes with many hours of quality time in the saddle. Buying a high dollar bit won't give it to you.

| JD Morrow I believe makes the Wright bits, I've had JD make some other ones for me too, very happy with them and he's super to work with.
I know the Elliot bits take a while to get - I often wonder as many as I see for sale on FB brand new with tags if people are ordering them to sell as an "investment" because people will pay a premium to have them now vs be on his wait list. Or are people finding something else that works while they wait months to get their bit. |

Location: Oklahoma | I know, for a fact, that is happening some. Which I really do not understand... tying up $165 for two months, at the chance of making $35 on it?!? 
However... I've had Elliott's make a 'few' bits, and quite often they tell me it will be six weeks and I have it in three.

Location: California | It's mostly about feel for me. I love my Ed bits. But I also love my Elliot bits as well. I have a horse I run in an Elliot and the difference between that and an Ed bit is night and day. She would get her head up and run through the Ed, but the Elliot she collects and gets under herself when I ask. It's a totally different feel and response.

Best is to find someone with at least one, and then look at all the different options because it is super overwhelming.
My mare has never been 100% happy in a bit until I got a Dave. Go figure. And it's true- the feel they have is really amazing. |

Email Dave! Or call. He will get back to you woth a recommendation for a bit and offers an exchange program if your horse doesn't like it. He will work with you to find the right bit for your horse. He will also give you pricing.
he might take a few days to respond but is super helpful! |

There is an order form on the website, and on his old website there used to be descriptions of each shank and mouth.
I have the 4 piece mouth in 2 different shanks. And the roller mouth in 2 different shanks as well. I'll attach pics
IMO the chin straps make a world of difference as well. One of my mares was very particular and would shake her head at the slightest wrong hand move (yes she was vetted) Now I tie my curb up to my throat latch and use a beaded one on her. It's fantastic.
In my working bits, I have a solid bar that is great as well.

Location: The best kept secret in TX | JD Morrow makes Ed Wright's bits by hand. Ed wright's bits are not a production bit.
JD is on top of his orders and has a system that makes hand making bits easier and faster for himself. He's a very nice man. Give him a call. He will exchange bits with you until you find a bit that works for you. Usually, his first suggestion is spot on. I've never had to trade out a bit because it didn't work. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | Found a couple more pics of the actual shanks on a horse, along with how I tie up the curbs. Dave is supe easy to work with as well, and obviously re-sale is amazing but so is the exchange program if one doesn't work for you.
