Location: Mississippi | Mom is sorrel, dad is registered as chestnut. She was born the exact color of mom but now she is shedding out a darker color. This is my first foal and I know the shedding of the baby coat is normal I just assumed it would be the same color. I am not sure now what color to register her as?

Not a bad thing to point out so people can learn. The debate between sorrel and chestnut is completely subjective. One persons sorrel is another person's chestnut. Many breeds don't even recognize sorrel. Since genetically they are both the same exact color no one is wrong. |

Not one thing wrong with "plain ole sorrels"---my big red boy has only a backwards half moon on his face, not another spot of color anywhere. And he's gorgeous!! |
