Location: Texas | He won't be started until the fall. I'm letting him grow. But he's had lots and lots of ground work done. He shows showmanship, in hand trail, and halter. He's been hauled all over. We're ground driving and carrying a saddle.

| Same as Stride! Mine won't be broke until this fall, or early next spring =] Curious...why break them in spring of their 2 year old year? I understand for futurities...but for those who do not futurity? Just curious, love learning everyone's tactics =]

| So my 2yr old has less than 30 rides on him. The colt starters have put rides on him here and there. He knows how to stop light and gentle, has an amazing handle and knows both of his leads. I am beyond lucky with the colt starters I have here by me. My colts correct and early start will allow me to turn him back out on pasture grow up a little more and be ready to go on with this fall. |

Location: CTX | Not at all.... I won't start him till next year. I am not going to futurity and so I don't see the need of starting that early while he is still growing. Mind you, I come from an English background so that's what I was brought up with.

| I'm the odd one out. All mine were started Jan 1st. They are all reining bred, with the exception of one who is running bred and he won't be started till this fall only because he is small. The other 4 are loping circles and starting to hunt them. They are sliding around 4 feet and by June they will have their first set of sliders on. Turning around slow and correct ready to pickup speed.
That being said if they aren't futurity horses then I don't see the need to start them so soon. |

| I am also not starting mine till fall. So far she has been worked with on the ground and she shows extreme promise as a saddlebronc horse when lunged with a saddle on

| Mine is standing tied, starting to lunge, working on leading well, respect, and being saddled. My round pen is coming in June and she will get started more then.
She was sent to a colt starter directly off the ranch in February. She got there and he said she was too small. She really was. If she went now, she'd be started! LOL. BUT... not in too much of a hurry. May wait until 5 to futurity her, just depends on how she comes along. |

Location: Nebraska | Does a 2015 filly that I trained for a college class count?
Walk, trot, lope both directions, simple changes, tiny bit of basic rate, whoa (not sliding, just learned the word's meaning), slow haunch turns, and back on a droopy rein. Started side passes when she sold.
