| I would definitely have an ultrasound done to see if there is something going on causing her to behave this way. I used to have a mare that would get stuck during transition and needed a shot of lutalyse to get her cycling normally.
I agree, Regumate. I have tried shots in the past, and the only thing that gave me consistent results was Regumate. I currently have one on it and it's not a big deal. You can buy a gun and squirt it in their mouth or use a syringe. I just squirt it in the grain, mine cleans it up like she doesn't even know it's there. It is a little pricey for the bottle, but you only give 10cc daily so a bottle lasts awhile. |

Location: Missouri | Animal Element Mare formula does wonders for a lot of mares. It is about $40 for a month supply. some mares may need a little more that what they recommend (2 scoops instead of 1 for a couple of weeks) |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | I had progesterone pellets put into my mares chest a bit over a week ago. It doesn't take away the heat cycle, but has made her more manageable and comfortable. She also has one teat that looks like your mares. Vet didn't say it was abnormal. No mastitis. |

Location: texas | Rode her this evening for about 30 minutes, just walked pasture
Vet says he wants to give her the lutalyse to make her ovulate and take the heat off, so guess we will see when i get there in the morning....

I am so very sorry if I was yelling but I feel that strongly about regumate. When you have one that bad, like I do, herbals and OTC crap is a waste of money. They need medication !!! Lol |

Yes it is!! BUT......... I made sacrifices so I didn't have to see my mare banging and trying to hurt herself in pain from something I could fix. You give it 10cc daily. One bottle lasts 100 days. |

| Regumate is the only way to go on those mares that are like yours. Everything else is a waste of money. Don't waste your time and money on marbleing. Most of them fall out with two weeks. |

Location: Too far from home | Please know I've been out of the breeding business for a few years now, but:
Regumate is something given every day. I had a nasty mare that it didn't work with. It is expensive. You shouldn't get it on your skin.
P2 is a form of progesterone that can be injected. It is oily and will make the injectionn site sore. We used it in breeding animals, but isn't great for competition as they may be sore.
Aldosterone is an injectible that works as a counter-agent (I think - maybe cooperative agent) to progesterone. It has to be compounded and is expensive ($250-280/month so on par with Regumate) I found this to work well.
Marbleing can work, but must be done by an experienced vet as you must get it in during the exact right moments in the cycle. This is difficult & may take several cycles and still might not work.
Mares can get stuck in transition and ovulate non-stop. Lute them.
Thats what I've got for you. I love mares. I've hauled many mares & never had trouble. I always just shook my head at people that said they liked geldings and that I obviously had never had a "bad" mare. Well, I've got one now. Very talented, but will pee on herlself non-stop and ulcerates between her butt checks. I feel horrible for her. She's not evil or mean, just miserable. The aldosterone worked.
