So, what's with the millions of bogus posts on all those threads?

Don't you think one of you folks ought to come on here and explain this to people? Obviously people are asking questions and wondering what happened. Some are afraid to even click on those threads.
It's bad for business, wouldn't you say? You went through the trouble of zapping threads where "Mecon" posted silly incendiary comments, yet you didn't try to address the elephant in the room.

How about it?

When something goes wrong on BHW it isn't the responsibility of the mod's - that would fall on my shoulders and I missed it. l I am very sorry - I was out of town and didn't even check my cell phone.   I am on it now - I am very sorry.

We sometimes don't know what happens till after it happens and then we have to reverse engineer the problem to the source and try to eliminate the breach.

Many of these cyber attacks are just automated programs.   High traffic forums are targets because they have visibility and are usually easier for amateur hacks than say the Pentagon.  It's like wack a mole, trying to protect our forums from mischief.

I apologize for not spotting it and stopping it sooner but often the quickest fix is a complete shutdown.    The attack is simply a program to add thousands of pages to threads on our forum and others forums on the internet, and we can often find and fix in 24 hours or much less. The mischief systems often proliferate over weekends, when computer staffs, including ours, are at a minimum.

We (us folks) are working on it now.

There is another barrelracing website that I check out - more local Texas area, and I cannot access their site on my computer, anymore. Our IT guys blocked it.  I called them and was told it has to do with their system and prone to possible attack. An update on their end would stop our IT program from blocking it.....I guess this kind of stuff is why?  In 16 years, I've never not been able to access it from work until last week.  But I can get on here, stil :)    I don't understand it all, but glad you got it fixed!
