Causes of Inconsistent Performance?

I have a 15 year old mare that I cant figure out whats up. Some weekends she runs in the top 3 out of 300 head. The next weekend we will be lucky to place in the top 10. Same pattern, but just loses around .3. I keep everything the same, don't change a thing... Any ideas? In her videos it looks like she has a floaty run, rather than get in the ground and power like on her fast runs. She's utd on all normal injections expected in a 15 year old. I just can't figure it out. Anyone dealt with this? It seems as though early in the year and late in the year is when she runs her hardest, inconsistent between.

Beginnings of arthritis, maybe? My oldies always seem to do best when it's not too hot and not too wet. Cool and dry is good stuff for them.

Try giving Pentosan . Do the loading dose. Then once a month or 2 days out from a run

When you utd on "all normal injections for a 15 year old" what do you mean? Because I know horses who have been injected since they were 5 and horses not injected until into their 20's...going to need some elaboration there.
If you aren't currently doing any joint support I would consider a vet check to see if any is warranted.
Is this an indoor or outdoor pen? How experienced are the people working the ground? Changes in weather can affect how much moisture the ground holds even in an indoor pen.
Has the weather been consistent weekend to weekend? I always give mine a dose of air power when it's hot and the air is heavy to help open him up
(and put a dab on my own finger to open myself up! Darn asthma.
)
Have you been different weekend to weekend? One weekend well rested and ready to role and the next not so much and not riding as hard?
Lots of possible factors at play over 3 tenths.

I'm not sure how you can consider 3/10ths as being inconsistent. That's the blink of an eye. Maybe it was the ground. Maybe you were further down on the drag. Maybe you picked her up too soon. Maybe she got bogged down. Maybe the ground was heavier. Lots of factors that an lose you 3/10ths. Anywhere in the top 10 when there are 300 head is still a good place to be. Maybe your expectations of that 3/10ths need to be reevaluated. Sorry if that's harsh, but what you are talking about is still a time gap that would draw checks at most rodeo's.

3 tenths is nothing. I would consider that normal variation. An extra stride somewhere in the pattern can easily amount to that 3 tenths.
Look at the NFR horses making 10 runs in a row at the Thomas and Mack. Each horse and each run will flucuate way more than 3 tenths.
