My pants keep getting caught over my saddle horn when I run. Have actually ripped the front off my jeans. Any tips or even styles of jeans that this problem might not happen? It's spool frigging annoying and cost me a good run last night!

That sounds awful! Is it the waistband getting stuck? I'd be tempted to try a post partum belly band, under my shirt but outside my pants, so it'd just be smooth Lycra with nothing to catch from under my bra to my hips.

How are they getting caught on your saddle horn? Like what part is catching? Are you wearing a belt?

No I don't wear a belt but it's quite similar to when you get your belt hung up only it's my actual jeans. Just below the buttons they kind of fold over the horn and hang up. I ride in wrangled aura jeans. A little loose bit not to bad, I have stomach issues so don't like a tight waistband. I have one single pair of jeans that doesn't do this but sometime they are a little snug cause of my belly. Idk, it's just super annoying and last time the horn actually ripped out the front of my jeans so was rather embarrassing.

This might be a good idea. It is aweful! Super distracting and i know theyd probably rip completley off in a wreck but its in the back of my mind coming off my horse and getting drug cause im hung up by the wasteband of my pants hahaha. Whats wierd is i ride pretty upright. I dont get down real low in the turns. Yourd think it wouldn't happen.

I thought I was gonna die once when I had that happen. They were super baggy jeans (my friend called them my gangsta britches because they were so saggy). Ive also had it happen once or twice with these stretchier low rise jeans that are more popular now. A belt seems to help me with that since I can tighten it up just before I run & loosen it right after. I can't stand tight pants or waist bands. I just don't wear a belt with a buckle that will get caught & I try to remember to tighten it a couple notches right before my run.

It usually only happens when I wear a belt. Although, one time, I guess my horse took a bad step or something because the saddle horn stabbed me so hard, it split the zipper. I ran out of the arena attached to the horn. Anyway, you might try the belly band idea. Or, maybe just try different style jeans. I hate low rise, but it might move the waistband low enough that it won't get caught. I wear the wrangler Auras, too, because they are higher in the waist. Good luck, I hope you get it figured out soon. That has to be annoying.

Two suggestions. First the cheapest, push back on your saddle horn in the turns. It will help with the jeans problem and you will be amazed at how much it will improve your turns.

Now, the more expensive suggestion. Make sure your saddle seat is large enough. I ride in a 16 inch seat. My trainer is about as wide as a soda straw and she rides in a 14 inch seat. Bigger seat has helped me more than I can tell you and nothing gets caught.

I will be honest and say my seat size is a hair small. But It's a reminder to get motivation to make my @ss a size smaller if you know what i mean. And believe it or not, it's when I pull myself up coming out of the turn not going in. Thanks though. I'm thinking more working out and buying pants that fit, and a belt without a buckle is where I need to start lol

This happened to me all the time last year! I ride forward coming out of a turn and my jeans or belt would get caught. I got stuck a couple times, but since then I've switched saddles and the one I currently ride in has a higher front and horn so it doesn't happen. For me it didn't matter what jeans, seemed like they all got caught. Maybe vetwrap your horn so it's thicker like a roping saddle?

Been there and done that....and it wasn't fun! Ripped the crotch right out of my pants!

Mine were the Wranglers with the spandex in them....ya know the ones that are tight for 5 seconds and then become droopy and your constantly pulling them up? Ya, no, don't wear those when you run.

Unbutton your pants, loop a rubber band thru the button hole and hook it on the button. Then if you get hung, you won't be trapped.

This has happened to me before too. It's usually when I wear pants that are a touch big, or the stretchy ones like mentioned above. The ones that FIT, and then in a half hour, they are droopy. I also ride really forward and have to make a consious (sp?) decision to sit back and down in my saddle when we take off. That's usually when it happens to me.
