This baby will turn gray?? The mama is out of Dashin is Easy (gray) and the sire is Frenchman's Easy Doc (palomino)... Is there ANY chance that around his nose and eyes is an indicator of turning gray???

It's really hard to tell from the pictures, but years ago I have a sorrel chromed out filly whose sire was palomino and the dam was grey. She stayed sorrel

Your chances are 50%. Grey is a modifier and you get 50% chance of grey with each grey parent no matter what your base color is.
I have a 3 yr old now, grey sire AND grey dam and I was just sure he'd turn grey. Chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail, no indication that he will grey, so I'm 99.9% sure at this point that he will not.

Can't see the pics well enough to see if your baby will turn grey--I can usually tell really early, you'll see white or very light hairs around the eyes and inside the ears, even before they start their first shed.

Having raised a colt that was born sorrel and turned grey.. I'm gonna say not much. We could tell right away he was going to turn as his legs and muzzle had a mousy tint to them. He was already turning by the time he was a month old (around eyes and muzzle). This colt looks too red to turn.

I was told once that if a foal is born with really bright white on the legs and face it will turn gray. Now obviously this is only if one parent is gray as well. Usually the white on a foals legs and face are sort of dull right after they are born but if it's a gray it will be bright white.

But your foal is solid so that's no help lol and I am not sure how true that is anyways. Maybe bigger photos so we can see around his eyes?

Any sorrel colt I've ever had (even with gray parent) with white legs stayed sorrel. The one that changed was darker and mousy. Interesting that what you heard is the exact opposite lol.

Grays are bizarre. My first grey was born copper penny sorrel, turned bay roan--legs were all dark, then gun metal grey. She's white now. Her full sister was born the same copper penny sorrel, turned all but black (color of black coffee), then turned almost black/gun metal grey and got minimally lighter every year. She died when she was 9 and was still really dark.
My first grey mare mentioned above has had one filly, born charcoal black with tiny white hairs in her face. She was sold as a two year old, still pretty much black but with a little bit of a frosted look. They're all different and the only sure tell-tale I've come up with is the tiny white hairs around the eyes, bridge of their nose/face and in the ears.
