Location: Pacific Northwest | I'm having a hard time concentrating at work because half the department is gone, and I get to actually haul to a race this weekend! It's only 2 hours away but it's been awhile since I've gotten to stay at a race. All I can think about is wanting to go home so I can get things ready haha
Anyone hitting up some fun 4th of July races or rodeos!? |

Location: MN | In the same situation in the concentration department! Im entered up in a Bulls N Barrels this weekend! 3.5 hours away. First one I've been to in years. Partly due to being too chicken and the other part due to my horse breaking his splint bone. Were all set to go now though!
Good luck this weekend everyone!

| There is a huge barrel race in Marshall TX. I think $11.000 added. I just had my horse injected so we will not be running. |

| Hitting the rodeo road with my husband, 7 runs in 8 days. Seasoning my little horse so checks are unlikely for us (but who knows!), but hopefully he finds some horns and his partners finds some heels and we end up with a little to take to the bank. |

We are taking our boat out to the local lake and floating this week(and the stress) away. |

Location: Kansas | I'm entered in rodeos tonight, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. :) Lots of miles on the horses and I, but I think I've chosen some good ones and if the weather cooperates, we should be able to hit some checks. The next step is to pick who goes on the Tuesday trips as I don't want to haul all 3 rodeo horses that far. My boyfriend is entered in the Monday & Tuesday rodeos so I'm hoping he shakes off his slump and spurs some bucking horses! My younger brother is riding bulls tonight, tomorrow, Sunday and Tuesday, and he's due to hear the whistle so I've got my fingers crossed for him too! Rodeos are much more fun when everyone is doing well! |

Leon Sunday night Exira Tuesday afternoon Whiting Tuesday night
I finally - the 6th year I entered it - got in the perf at Leon, and of course this year I decided I'm running Clifford (slightly goofy sometimes) instead of Chance (feeds off the noise in a perf.). We did draw up good on the ground so that's cool. |

We will be like ships passing in the night...
Leon Saturday night
Bloomfield Sunday night
Whiting Monday
Exira Tuesday
We are in slack at Leon and Bloomfield. We've been getting perfect and while he gets on the muscle more he hasn't been firing to the 1st. ready to run him in slack and see if taking away some of the distraction helps him focus. Have to season them at some point!

| We have 1 run close to home and then we too will be lake bums for the rest of the holiday.
I have really lucked out this year and been able to compete within about an hour radius of home every weekend! :D |

Location: Kansas | My brother was in the bull riding at Bloomfield Sunday night. Clifford and I survived the perf and made a mostly good run at Leon. Too bad I quit riding a stride early and hit the second. :( I think if I hadn't done that, he would have been in the 14s since he had to dodge/kick the barrel on his way out of the turn. We're headed to Hepler KS tonight, then we might see you at Exira. Hope the ground is dry and decently worked there and at Whiting!! |

I will pm you my phone #, would love to meet! We were sitting 5th after the perf at whiting, but got bumped out by the time slack wrapped up. Still our best run of the weekend and sitting .6 off a smoking 15.3 run in the lead. But, we've left 9 of 9 cans standing the last 3 days and that's also an accomplishment for this horse.
I'm only going as hard as I am because my husband team ropes so the fuel is sunk to get here either way, very much a seasoning year. |

I just now got on the computer & BHW. Pretty sure I watched you go in to run at Exira before it started raining! They sure set that pen up different from the past years and I don't know what happened but Clifford NEVER saw the second barrel there. We managed to run a 15.7 at Whiting even though I know he was tired from something like 1400 miles in the trailer over a 5-day span so he didn't fire quite as hard as he normally does. My gray won Hepler, so that was great, and Matt didn't end up too badly hurt after having his horse fall with him and kick him at Exira, then he got kicked and stepped on at Whiting. Once he figured out where he was (middle of the rodeo arena is a perfectly legit answer at the end of the 4th of July....towns & states would be far too difficult to remember LOL), he seemed to be mostly normal. |

Yep it was just sprinkling when we ran, little sorrel horse with buckskin helping him in. That 2nd was our only downed barrel in 4 days so I was super pleased! He's getting stronger and stronger.
I didn't see Matt's wreck at Exira - so glad it sounds like he came out of that ok! Were you guys by chance talking about bucking horses switching directions and having ground preferences on the way back to the trailer? If so that was me that turned around and had a good laugh about it! I saw the Kansas plates on the trailer later and wondered - but I'm too much of an initial introvert to go be like hey, are you rodeowithjoker?! Haha.
Nice job on the win at Hepler!
If you ever need a place to layover SE of Des Moines let me know!
