Location: The best kept secret in TX | Prayers to whomever knows this woman.... The pictures are very graphic. The horse was thrown from the trailer and is pictured dead. The woman survived long enough to be transported. She died after arriving at the Hospital. https://www.eastidahonews.com/2017/06/update-idaho-falls-woman-horse-killed-in-i-15-crash-man-charged-with-vehicular-manslaughter/

Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | That is horrible. You wouldn't even be able to tell what kind of truck that was without them telling you. I am so scared of 18 wheelers. My dad and I were involved in a wreck with a big truck that left us both with lifelong injuries. It only takes one second of distraction to change the course of someone's life. |

| I can't wrap my head around why you would go into oncoming traffic instead of taking the ditch. . . I understand you only have a split second to react....but what on earth. Makes me wonder if he is being truthful about why he ended up crossing lanes.
Prayers for her family. So incredibly tragic.

My guess is that he looked up/whatever and his split second reaction was to swerve, probably not even aware of what was going on in the oncoming lane. Very sad for everyone involved. |

| Good gosh, how fast was he going? Must have been running along at a pretty good clip to do that much damage, not much left of truck or trailer. Many Prayers for her family after this senseless accident! |

One picture shows one of the trailer dividers sitting right in front of the semi. Heart breaking. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | The article mentioned this to be a construction lane and that traffic had slowed. My guess is that he had just dropped a load and was headed home. Maybe on the phone, maybe traveling to fast, maybe even texting. Either way the police had enough to increminate him on manslaughter charges at the scene. That usually takes weeks after a crash. Maybe drunk/high? Makes me wonder if they will also charge him with anything animal cruelty related? Is that a thing? Can that be done?
The car that hit the semi from behind had to have seen it coming or was traveling at a safe distance from the pickup. The followers of the pick up are very lucky they weren't hit head on as well. This road looks very narrow... The pickup had no where to go....

I would like to think that if he was texting, that the article would have mentioned it - ONLY from the stand point is its a HUGE fine to both the Driver and the Company if so. The Interstate through that construction zone is narrow and scarry to me - I drove it around a month ago. I'm sure that state patrol tested him for Drugs/Alcohol - it's mandated by law in this situation. Day Cab with a Belly Dump, more than likely the State Patrol will go over that truck/trailer (and any other vehicle owned by that company and additional records) with a fine tooth comb looking for mechanical failure or deficency of the company as a whole. If it's a multi-truck company, I feel bad for their office staff - DOT will be all over them, when it was a "lone wolf" Crazy, horrible and extremly sad situation, I know when I drive a Semi there's so much you have to pay attention too - I'm left wondering about the "rest of the story" |

Too google I go.
Found it: The vehicular manslaughter charge is a misdemeanor. (Title 18-4006 3(C)). According to Idaho Code, the charge alleges Johnson is responsible for unlawful killing of a human being in the commission of an unlawful act, not amounting to a felony, without gross negligence.

Location: In The Land of Cotton | He needs to be charged with more. Construction zones are marked way before people get to them. Numerous times and then in so many feet increments. Nobody pays attention to them. Especially if they think they are working on the other side of the road or no one is seen. Our men here at work have had to jump out of the way of these types of people. The advent of electronics and screens in vehicles is making it more dangerous.
Yes, the DOT will be on them. Yes, the driver was tested within a certain time frame for drugs and alcohol. Yes, they will go over the truck and the DOT will also show up at the companies door step for an audit. I have been through this when we owned 26 trucks. However, we were hit head on by a one ton carrying five men with no insurance in So FL. They all died. Thank God our man was able to kick out the windshield before he burnt up.
I feel sorry for the woman and her family. I feel sorry for the driver. Even if he was at fault.

Location: California | We have so many semi trucks around here it makes me nervous to drive in general, let alone with horses in the back. I couldn't even imagine THAT. How horrific, I saw another picture on FB that gave a different angle, and is definitely more graphic.
Many prayers to everyone involved. |

| Leave it to someone on FB to put the most graphic picture up they could find.
We had a family friend loose her high school stand out son to a one vehicle accident and some asshat posted the awful pictures before the older sisters' and brother could be notified. My SIL was one of them that did that. My daughter is best friend's with one of the sisters and had to ask her to take it down. The family didn't need to see that so soon.m Stepping off my soap box now. |
