Location: In The Snow, AZ | So let's play a game... hubby found this thing, already dead, presumably by the barn cats. It is approx 7 inches long. Obviously not a mouse so I assumed it was a rat as I have never seen one before. Lol. I've shown it to a few people and they're saying it's NOT a rat and possibly something either mutated or a cross breed of some sort? Wondering what y'all thought and hoping I never see one again.

LOL, what we call a ground hog around here goes 15 to 20 pounds, but I am guessing you are referring to a prairie dog?
A rat is a rat is a rat IMHO. |

Not a gopher. I'd probably say rock chuck if I were to guess. |

Location: My own little world! | It's hard to tell for sure from it's current state, but I say pack rat. Some people call them a wood rat. I call them horrible. Because they are Horrible. They look sorta cute, with their big eyes, but it's a trick. They will destroy your vehicle trying to make a nest in the engine area. They smell, they pick my flowers and try a make a nest in all kinds of places they don't belong.
They. Are. The. Worst. |

I agree. They are interesting creatures but very destructive. They take "pretties" and leave you junk. |
