My husband is not a breakfast person but needs something with his daily medications.  He has been drinking Ensure Hi-Protein because I thought it was healthy.  Then I read on the internet (and I know it must be true because it was on the internet) that Ensure in not healthy.  Lots of chemicals. Now my question is:  Is there a protein type drink that is healthy that does not require me fixing it for him every morning?

I don't know about store bought prepared drinks. I have a nutri bullet and make a smoothie every morning from frozen strawberries, a banana, Greek yogurt, pb and milk. You wouldn't have to freeze the strawberries, just makes it thicker. You or him could make up several of the cups ahead of time and then just zip it on the blender and go. There are also a lot of other delicious smoothie recipies.

I'm not sure because of the preservatives needed for self life that you'll find much that is truly healthy and already prepares. I do like bolthouse farms and odwalla smoothies you find in the refridgerated section - but idk what specific nutrients you're looking for if those would be a good fit.

Check into some of the 'diet' programs.  Several of them have the meal shakes.  They are just mix and go type of deals.  Thrive is the current one I keep seeing pop up.

I've had chocolate milk as my breakfast drink since I was 18.  I've weathered the 'milk is bad' and 'milk is good' phases and the only change I've made is that now I drink whole organic.  It holds me for several hours and buffers the tummy if I have to take any meds.  Always check  your meds for what they need to be taken with - there are some for empty tummys and some that need real food.

His chocolate Ensure is kind of like chocolate milk and I add fiber stuff to it just because.  I do have a friend that sells Thrive that I might check out.  I was trying to add some protein to his diet but that protein powder stuff is sort of gritty to me.

I totally agree here! We got a Nutri Ninja a few months ago and I've replaced my breakfast with a smoothie. I use greek yogurt and unsweetened almond milk as a base and go from there. You can go pretty high protein with them. One in particular I like is greek yogurt, almond milk, a teaspoon of natural peanut butter, a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa, 10 almonds and a frozen banana slices. It is filling and the high protein always tides more over to lunch at work and I'm normally a snacker. They don't take long to make at all and the nutri bullet/ninja takes less than a minute to blend and you can put a lid on it and take it with you.

Plexus P96 protein shakes. Comes in chocolate and vanilla. Gluten free, Non GMO and 100% plant based. I mix with 8 oz of unsweetened soy or almond milk. Mix powder, shake and GO!!! Love them!! You can easily mix fruit with them also for an easy change up.
I teach and these are my go to in the mornings! Very filling and healthy. Be happy to share more if you'd like, just pm me

I've seen on pinterest the idea where you stick all the ingredients for a smoothie in a mason jar and put it in the fridge. Each morning you grab a mason jar, dump it in the blender for a fresh smoothie.

My Mason jar fits on my little cheap bullet look a like from walmart. LOL  I can screw the jar on, blend and then go. No having to wash the blender afterwards! Score!!

I have tried a lot of protein mixes... the thing about them is: Carbs, and sugar. Make sure you are checking those two things. They will put weight on you really fast if they have lots of carbs or sugar.

I drink shakeology and mansports protein. I order the samples from mansports because they are very low in sugar and I don't crash. I order the shakology so I can blend with my smoothies. I drink the mansports alone mixed with water and the shakeology I mix with ice and water in a blender. I sometimes add in A 1/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk for flavor in the chocolate or vanilla shakology. The mansports keeps me full from 8 to around 10 when I have my snack. The shakology keeps me full until around 12.

My Husband has started drinking the mansports protein and has lost about 12 pounds. He likes the chocolate and peanut butter mixed. (One scoop of each) Says it tastes like a Resee's Cup. He likes that all he has to do is put 2 scoops (Becasue of his weight according to directions) in a water bottle and go. He doesn't want to pull the blender out each time he wants breakfast.

Those two brands are the only one's I have found without carb overload or sugar overload.   Also,  Be carefull adding fruits to any smoothie, you're eseentially adding sugar.

Would love to be able to mix in the Mason jars.  What is the brand of your look alike bullet?

Advocare has some really great tasting shakes that are very filling and high protein. If you'd like some samples, send me a DM and I'll send you some!

We add Bulletproof powdered collagen to our coffee every morning.  It dissolves super fast in anything, don't need to stir, and it's tasteless, although my bf and I think it makes our coffee taste BETTER!   2 TSB is 60 calories and 15g of protein.  And my hair/nails are thicker and both of us have less muscle/joint pain.

I loved Advocare's shakes so much that I became a distributor! Ive tried so many different brands and these are the only one's that I dont find gritty. They call for 8oz of water/milk but I like to do a full 20 oz with my shakes. More water intake for the day, plus a splash of milk to make it thicker and I'm usually set to go until lunch! They actually keep you FULL.

I’ve tried a lot of different protein powders/drinks and found 1) they are really expensive and 2) most of the ingredients are filler or not something I want to be drinking.

The best/cleanest powders I’ve found is SFH Whey protein or the powders by Legion Athletics. Both are pretty good and if I had to choose, those are my picks.

I try to keep it as β€˜real’ as possible so my morning drinks are frozen chunks of whatever fruit is in season, frozen blueberries, ΒΌ avocado, chia seeds, turmeric paste, a big handful of spinach, and a splash of either homemade or plain/no sugar apple juice.
If I want protein I’ll add some egg whites or plain Greek yoghurt.

You could add some oats for fiber/filler, but I don't like the consistency they add.

This smoothie is what I feed my 4yo too, and he loves it.
