Bruised heels/ Sore soles...treatments?
Have a horse with bruised heels per x rays from the vet! He has given me a treatment protocol just interested in what others have done for treatment with success?

Lots of rest, soaking in warm water and epsom salt and very careful trimming.

1. Someone has taken too much heel off the horse in trimming.
2. Heels take forever to grow out. Be patient.
3. It will take more than one shoeing to straighten out the problem and a different farrier is probably a necessity.
I had a horse at the vet about 3 weeks ago for maintenance and asked the vet to check both fronts. The horse did not trot out lame on the fronts at all but with a hoof tester, checked sore in both. My farrier was at the vets and the vet called him in and told him how he wanted the horse's feet. Vet had him put bar wedges on the fronts. He is so much better. Have not stopped riding him.
That is Bar wedge PADS

Temporarily, until you get the correct shoeing etc, you can try applying Magic Cushion to help with the thin/sore soles.

Jim Rickens in a little bottle and hoof boots and a new farrier. You can also figure 8 and bicycle inner tube around the hoof. cut out the thingy in a circle then on the opposite side cut the tube in half
(open
) but not in half so you still have the whole tube. stuff the toe in the hole and start criss crossing.
