With God all things are possible

Father God, guide me today to do all things that will bring glory and honor to Yรดu Amen. This has been my daily morning prayer for a long long time.

Looking at others' gifts and comparing comes all too easily to me and reveals how much time I spend looking out for myself. I should know I don't need to. I am like the Israelites who " drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock of Jesus Christ."
1 Corinthians 10:4
I have to keep in mind of how well Jesus knows and loves me and to Whom it is I want to continually come: Jesus, my Rock and my Salvation.
In March I had to put down my mare, that was gifted to me. She had a flipped colon. I had decided last year I was going to keep my horses, not sell them. I have been starting "over" on young horses for over 15 years. I turned 63 last December, so I decided I was keeping what I had, no matter what " D" they ran in, time to ENJOY a solid barrel horse, instead of seasoning young ones. Well two weeks after I put my mare down, my horseshoer gave me a broke 4 year old, I and others helped him 5 years ago, he had a perforated colon, due to antibiotics, some friends and I did a horse shoeing day, a silent auction, and a men's barrel race, team roper friends ran barrels, raised, 21,000 dollars for him and his wife,, so I've been trying get her trained, and just startd hauling to exhibition.
I am running two other mares in competition. 3 is plenty for me to haul, it's work. I feel very blessed to be able to ride and haul.
Don't have papers on two, so don't know the breeding. I see on Facebook others buying the DTF, Firewater bred horses, and think man, I wish I had the money to have one of those. Then I look how far I have come on ones I don't know breeding, how solid they are running, and have had 14 clean runs since July, winning checks every run. BLESSED! Trying to keep my mind set, HAVE FUN!!
Ok, here is what I feel God lead me to share; STOP comparing yourself with what others have and you don't! Discover that what you have fits you, FOR you carved out by God. Do the BEST you can with what God has already given you, and He will add more . If you don't do your best, why would God allow you more? Mmmm? If you are not showing you can handle what you already have. AMAZING? Could it be specifically for me, the things I ALREADY have?
Psalm 71:3 Be to me a rock of refuge to which I may CONTINUALLY come, you have been given the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. Take a walk today, heart and eyes open, and look for something that reminds you of His love for you as a unique individual. For it is WITH God ALL things ARE possible! Have a VERY BLESSED AWARE of God's PRESENCE Tuesday ALL!! Appreciate your gifts! Remember how intimately Jesus KNOWS you!

I'm in the same boat.  I have always made do with horses that were gifted to me or were cheap purchases.  I dream of being able to choose the horse of my dreams, but I know that will never happen.  But I dearly love all my horses and am happy to have the opportunity to barrel race.

Amen, and thank you LJ. Your writings each day make me see things other people deal with and open MY eyes to my own situations. You are a blessing to this board.

I didn't realize until later today how muc this really speaks to me becyond an Amen. I'm one, too, that has had to make do with horses because I couldn't afford the brand name ones. And things don't always go right...but I think that is what God wants us to do...do the best we can with what we have to work with, have faith in Him and He'll supply the rest. Thank you, LadyJockey, for bringing some good ideas to the forefront of my mind. Your word has inspired me for a long time and I look forward to reading your devotionals as so often they pertain to my life.

Amen. My daily prayer is almost identical. In my teacher planning area at school I had this typed out and tacked to my upper filing cabinet. Good Morning God, guide me today to do all things that will bring glory and honor to you, Amen. Everyday before I began my first block of the school day I said that prayer. I smiled inside when other teachers would stop and read it. I just retired from teaching in May and I did leave that on the cabinet. I too am so blessed to have the horses I have and am extremely thankful.
