| So..I'm still going to try the horse I've been talking about next Sun. I know he's on a Fore Front Equine joint supplement, but boy are they pricey! $100.00/month and up..
Any other good recommendations for horses 15yo and up? I wonder if it would be better to get a straight MSM supplement, and I get my dog supplements from springtimeinc.com they have a 90% pure chondroitin sulfate powder for horses. Would it be wise to use these two products and still deliver good results? springtimeinc.com also has a 99% pure glucosamine powder.

Location: Southern Indiana | Just buy a jug of actiflex and you'll never look back. It's affordable and there's no other joint supplement that has all the necessary ingredients for the price!!! I also feed animed MSM. You can feed both of these to dogs too! |

I've shared this article in another thread before. It's a great article and will make you more the wiser about joint supplements. |

| Thank you! I just googled it. Great reviews, and great price! I see they have an actiflex for seniors. What are your thoughts? |

Location: Ohio girl moved to PA | I just started using the Actiflex and love it! I did have to get the powder kind though because my picky eater was NOT a fan on Pina colada haha. My 12 year old has been on it for about a month now and i dont hear clicking in his joints anymore like i used to. |

| I just started my good horse on Actiflex as well based on some of the shining remarks on BHW! He must have been a lush in a former life because he apparently likes the pina colada so much he doesn't come up for air when he eats anymore...
He hasn't been on it but a week yet so nothing to report, and did it more for support than a specific issue, although he has held some fluid in one front leg occasionally. |

In all honesty I never paid much attention to the senior. I have always just bought the liquid. My 16 yr old gielding has been on it for over 10 years. The only difference is that it has added probiotics. If that was something I thought I needed to add I'd probably just buy a separate product. |

He is high maintenance and I like that this has everything they need.

Second CJ. It's not cheap, but we love it for our 5. . . |

| I really liked ActiFlex but it was hard on my horses' stomachs. I won't feed a joint supplement anymore, most don't work and the ones that do cause gastrointestinal problems in my experience. |

What sort of things did you notice and what rate were you feeding it at if you remember?
Ours also get the regular Platinum. I imagine the CJ is good stuff, I just can't justify the cost for ones that don't have obvious issues. |

| I was feeding the maintenance dose every day with a very small amount of oats. I fed for over a year, and horses gradually were getting cinchy and one started grinding her teeth. Acted like their stomachs bothered them and started acting cranky when riding, not finishing their barrels. Took them off of it and after some time they went back to acting normal. |

| I used Cur Ost and loved it, but it was too expensive to feed to more than one, BioStar is a little less expensive until you pay the shipping, which is high. I would ask my vet about injectables, Pentosan, Adequan, etc. |

If he is not getting injected maybe when you ddo a pre purchase exam you can ask the vet about injecting instead. it may be cheaper in the long run to inject him.
I have a lot of friends who use Actiflex Liquid and Animed MSM together with great results on senior horses for thier children. Amazon carries both products with Prime Shipping last I checked for someone. If not, they sell both products at most major feed store chains. If all you have is a mom and pop shop for feed, they can more than likely order some in for you. |

| Big D's is having a sale on Actiflex - buy 3 quarts and get the 4th free. It is cheaper than buying the gallon jug. I think a quart is 23 and change on Big D's. |

This is the first I have heard of the actiflex causing any issues. I feed the powder. I wonder what could possibly be in it that would cause an issue??? |
