It's starting to get darker and kind of overcast here in Southern Indiana. We are going on the roof around 1:30 to watch!

It was neat but not as exciting as it was hyped up to be but we were outside of the direct path. You couldn't tell much without the glasses. With the glasses it was just black with the sun crescent peaking out from behind the moon. It was just very overcast looking outside. Still cool to watch!

It got kind of overcast looking here, but we only had 89% of the eclipse. It was kind of neat. I didn't have any of the special glasses, so I didn't really get to see anything. Dad wore a welding mask and my sister-in-law wore my brother's welding mask and I think my brother wore his welding mask at work. So I guess I kind of missed out, but I'm going to look at a horse this afternoon, and mom thinks that if I buy him I should name him Eclipse, LOL.

Lots of cloud coverage in Nothern MN but I did get to see some! It was pretty neat.
My sister who is living in Missouri said it went pitch black there. Crickets out chirping and everything! She took some pretty cool snap chats of it all

Granddaughter and I made those boxes so we could see the eclipse since we didnt have the right glasses for the veiwing did bring up the welding helmets from the shop but heard that would not be enought protecting of the eyes, so did the box's, well it got hazey looking here but that was all just a tiny bit of the eclipise and we missed it, lol..dang it . I thought we were going to get more of it and some darkness, boo hoo ,,, I was so excited running out the door every few mins with my box and checking and checking and checking and nothing

Thank you Roxie for deciding against the welding helmets! I've seen way too many folks on Facebook using them, and yes all but the darkest are not dark enough!

Mother Nature is a double edged sword. We should have had 95% totality here at work and closer to 97-98% at home. Alas, it's been rainy and overcast all day. MUCH MUCH needed rain though, so i struggle to be spiteful of it. So basically it got dark like a big storm was rolling in. That's about it.

We used a welding helmet....had read that it would only be good enough protection IF the Sun was the only thing you could see....and it was. We had about 80% here and the coolest part was quite unexpected. I looked at the deck and the shadows cast though the leaves on the tree were all crescent shaped! Corresponding to the shape of the eclipse. How cool!! I took a couple of pics in case folks thought I was crazy. Unfortunately I am a Technotard and cannot post them here.

Yep on the welding helmets, got to looking at them and put one on with my sun glasses and nope not happening not going to work so thats when I decided we would go with our boxes, but we still messed what little eclipse we had here. But no fear we will have another one in 2023 I think it is and should have a better one here in Texas I hope

We had 90% and I had the recommended glasses.  Not that big a deal as far as I was concerned.  You'll see everything I saw on the evening news.

We had about 91% totality here (Ogden, UT)... it got dim enough all the street lights and night time building lights came on. Temperature outside dropped about 20* as well.

One of my best friends lives in Wieser, ID and had total totality. She said it was really neat. It got dark and temps dropped there as well - all the animals were quiet as if it were night except for the chickens that seemed to get louder.

Here in south east Kansas we didn't get the full effect.  Not even enough for the street lights to come on.  I made a couple of the boxes at work and we kept going out and checking.  They worked really well.  Was something different but not really that exciting after all the hype.

Miss Roxie, this made me laugh---just picturing you and kiddo running back and forth with boxes, like can't decide if you're packing up or not!!!!
