I have a Billy Cook barrel saddle, it's the Sulphur OK made one. I prefer the Sulphur Ok made ones to the Greenville, TX made ones. I would buy another.

I have a BC Model 2030- Lynn Mckenzie tree.  LOVE IT.  It's Suphur made too.  I'll be in the hunt for another this fall!

Good saddles if they are from OK. I don't like the ones from TX. I have owned quite a few.

If you want a well made, super comfortable, durab;e saddle...check out Corriente Saddles. Super affordable and I would rather buy a new Corriente over a Billy Cook.

My dad has one (Sulphur, OK) and he thinks it is God's greatest gift to this earth haha. He really has a hard time liking any other saddle than his Billy Cook. I have rode in it when riding colts and it actually does ride pretty nice.

It is not just preference.
If it is stamped "Billy Cook, Maker Greenville, TX" it is a pre 1981 saddle made by Billy Cook.
If you have a saddle that was made in Greenville, TX Stamped: "Billy Cook Saddlery Greenville, TX" it is made by Longhorn/Simco.
And if It is stamped "Billy Cook Maker, Genuine, Sulphur Oklahoma", it is made by a production company owned by Billy Cook.

Billy Cook sold his plans, name, and all rights from 1981 to 1991 to Longhorn/Simco with a ten year non-compete agreement. In 1991, he opened up the production factory in Sulphur, OK.

I love my Billy cook saddles. They seem to fit a wide variety of horses and are super comfortable. A couple years ago you could find them super cheap but they seem to be back in demand and the used prices have gone way up this last year.

I have two 2030 sulphur Oklahoma billy cook, one is a 2004 model the other is a 2007 both are my Colt saddles so been used hard, they do fit a wider range I find, and are the widest billy cook I have found.

Both of my saddles are holding up well, trees are still solid. I bought mine for 1000 back then, if you look around you can still find brand new ones for 1100-1500

You probably won't find any of the good Billy Cooks from Greenville. Mine was made in 1975 and won't be sold in my lifetime.

I have had the TX and OK model.
And I loved them both for the price.

Mine fit a wide range of horses and held me in the right position in the turns.
I was also able to sell the OK saddle for and equal amount to what I bought it for over 10 years later.
