Location: NE Texas | Noticed long lines at gas stations on my commute to Dallas this morning. Saw on some social media sites that some stations are out of gas due to Harvey.
Should I run and fill up all my gas containers and milk jugs and join the panic or do we think this is all a bit extreme? For those of that commute to work, it's got my anxiety working overtime.

Location: Gainesville, TX | It should be short term. I wouldn't travel much except back and forth to work. Try to fill up and then conserve but they were talking about getting supplies back working some this weekend and then by late next week most of it should be back in commission. |

Location: NE Texas | I just left the office at 75/635 and had to go to 4 different places before I found a station with gas. Had to wait 45 minutes and paid $4 a gallon. |

Location: Fort Worth / Springtown | There are gas stations out of gas in and around Fort Worth - a lot of people are saying "hurry and fill your tanks, now" and they are also filling gas cans.....others are saying you are making the problem worse by doing this - go on about abour normal business.
I am not travelling this weekend - I've had Labor Day Weekend blocked for months to stay at home, so I'm not too worried. |

Actually, you should report these places. They are profiteering. |

I filled up yesterday and was the only one in line... I had about 30 miles until empty. My Husband did the same. But today my friends are having a hard time finding gas because people are freaking out. The stations were fine yesterday... |

| We are working an emergency job in Corpus and the trucks from San Angelo that were hauling the pipe had to stop and spend the night in San Antonio because they couldn't find any stations off the highway with diesel. They made it in fine this morning, though. |

| I live just outside of Austin, haven't seen any problems here. Also, the price of diesel has not gone up. |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | 500,000 bbls of oil have been released from the national reserves to be sent to the Phillips Conoco refinery in Lake Charles, LA. That refinery is still up and running. I would assume this would relieve some of the shortage, just a question of how long it will take. |

| We are good out here in my neck of the woods. .. I stopped by a little gas station this morning to get a drink and noticed the bags over the pumps.. I asked the lady how long they'd been out, she said 1 day. Then the gas tanker just pulled up. She said there's not a shortage they are just behind 48 hours on normal delivery. My husband drives a truck and he's been all over this week and hasn't had a single issue getting fueled up. Thankfully! So far so good.. I just fueled up while I was in town, but I always do. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | The panic mode set in during Katrina that also caused shortages. If people would just go about and do what they normally do with their fuel purchases, this wouldn't have happened. $4.00 per gallon is price gouging and any station charging these kind of prices need to be reported to the Texas AG. We are 45 miles NW of San Antonio and the price of fuel has gone up about 20 cents. https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/cpd/price-gouging

Exactly. Social media has been the worst in creating panic.. people posting pics of empty grocery store shelves or long long lines at gas pumps... I've been to the grocery store twice this week in town and everything was completely normal so I'm not sure where those people got those pictures, but it wasn't from my town (even though, they posted it was) my sister in law called me in a panic yesterday telling me to go fuel up and bring as many cans as I could because our town was going to run out... I asked where did you hear that? She said someone told her son they were at a gas station and it had run out... sigh.... |

| We're up 0.40 per gallon already. I agree that the press and social media creates a lot of bs overreactions. Virginia is a LONG way from Texas. |

It is a long way but the main pipeline coming up to you is down but is expected to be back up on Saturday. |

Exactly...instead of people buying one gallon of milk and one bag of bread...they are buying 2 or more...Of course that is going to cause a shortage..LOL |

I know - they just had to announce that on one of the main radio news stations starting yesterday. There had been a 0.20 increase before it hit the news and was 0.40 this morning. Seeing that this is one of the biggest travel weekends coming up it's a good way to make some fast profit from these stations up here in lala land. |
