Location: Cocoa, Florida | I'm watching all of the updates, the best one is Mikes weather page on Facebook, he's usually spot on. I'm honestly worried about this one, the Cone is showing direct hits to my town (Cocoa-right on the east coast) he also said that there won't really be anywhere that safe in Florida as the whole state will get hurricane force winds, the best possibility will be south west Florida but if it takes a turn I don't want to be stuck south. So where and what is everyone doing? I'm trying to come up with an early plan, I only have one horse to worry about right now thank God. Thinking maybe the panhandle or south west GA? Anyone know anywhere taking horses in? I will sleep in my trailer! |

I've been through this many times before and a few days prior to the storm they usually give us days off before the storm to prepare or leave without any consequences. Unless you're a nurse, paramedic, doctor etc, you usually have to stay and work the shelters and ride it out. If there is a mandatory evacuation they close whole cities anyway! And in my case thank God i'm my own boss! |

Location: OH. IO | Thanks for answering.I work for a road salt mine.If we have a blizzard and are told to stay off the roads we still get charged.lol.Last year I was real close to being stranded on the freeway.semis were stopped in the middle of the roads with nowhere to go and you couldn't see at all.Good Luck in your decision.I will be praying Irma goes elsewhere! |

Location: Florida | I have had a boss who wouldn't let you go until the causways over the water closed, to boss who would panic and close down a couple of days early just in case. Since I stay hurricane ready it doesn't bother me, but people with families need more time because they evacuate. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | The Covington center arena in Andalusia Al will usually open to take horses and people. They have over 400 stalls and hookups. Andalusia is just across the Alabama line north of Destin Fl. I text the owner tonight and asked if they would be open. I should have a response in the morning.

Location: "...way down south in the Everglades..." | I'm at a loss what to do...more horses than trailer slots. I'm just monitoring at this point and making sure all supplies are ready. I have a location in Ocala I could take some of them to but I am scared to do that as these things can shift at last minute. Me and my co-worker are on the hunt for more bottled water at lunch today...everyone is sold out already. |

Location: Cocoa, Florida | IRMA is now a category 5 with 185+ winds. I've closely monitored mikes weather page on facebook, he goes by NOAA, best weather guy out there, he gives live updates at 9am and 9pm. His models are usually spot on, the problem is the euro model shows it going east and the other shows it taking a turn more west, so there is NO safe place to run right now.... this is unfortunately going to be a last minute decision and we will be stuck in traffic I'm sure. |

Just leave and go to another state.the sooner you get out the safer you will be:))Or at least start heading north so you will be ahead of most traffic?
