Location: London Ontario | Back story - we bought a 3 yd old out of a horse sale 4 years ago, my FIL originally was told papers would be sent, never were. Now I am wanting to enter him in some shows and would like him in our name. I spoke with the breeder's daughter in the fall, she wanted us to confirm the horse was the horse via microchip, which we did, I called the breeder and daughter last week and left voicemails, as well as sent an email with no response, unable to find them on FB. Is there anything else we can do via AQHA to get this gelding in our name? |

If you have their info you could try filling out the transfer and mailing it plus a check for the cost (filled out to aqha) and an envelope and stamp to mail it with so that all they have to do is sign and send. |

This is the best thing to do. You will probably have to pay for new papers too. A transfer without papers is not going to do you much good. Actually, you really only need papers if you are showing AQHA. There is no money there so not many people run in those shows. |

| If you spoke with the woman last year and she was willing to help, you might still hear back from her. It has only been a week and transferring a horse her father sold four years ago may just not be her top priority right now. Especially since it has been a year since you last spoke about this, she may not consider it urgent to get back to you right away. I would keep trying to contact her.
Mailing the paperwork is a good idea. |

Curious ... why have you waited 4 years to get this taken care of?
So do you have any copy of the papers at all?
I would be contacting AQHA to see what your next step should be, if you do not hear back from the breeder in the next week or two.
Note: It is a VERY lengthy process for AQHA to go through. I took almost a year for me to get a horse registered in my name. |

Location: London Ontario | It was my father in law who who didn't do anything about the papers, I was under the impression he had them but he didn't. I have printed out the paperwork, will fill it out and send it to the breeder to see what happens, thanks all! |
