I will admit that I don't know very much about the Hidez products but I've been seeing them here and there, and with some people using the hoods while barrel racing their horse.

From what I read, the compression is supposed to help calm a nervous or anxious horse.

Have any of you used the hood while riding and felt like it did help? And I suppose like anything, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for everyone, but just curious.

I see sooo many used ones for sale on the tack groups. I would venture to guess they may be being sold due to their ineffectiveness.

Not a fix all, but my horse was not bad just unfocused at times. Would look for her buddies warming up and would look around at other things during her runs. Went from running 4D sometimes 3D times to 2D sometimes falling to 3D sometimes. Is a night and day difference in her runs much more focused even in new arenas. Like everything else works for some horses and not for others.

Yes and no. I used them on three different horses to try them out. One horse was being naughty loading st it did not help her calm down. Another time I used a good on a horse that was being left at home while the others were leaving, it did help him calm down quicker. I sold them, not nearly as effective as In The Zone paste.

Thanks for all the feedback. I am considering it for my mom's horse. He tends to be VERY spooky and somewhat nervous, and I'm curious if it *might* help him.

Now I can't get the Hidez video to load right now - is the hood hard to put on? Do you slip it on the horse's head or is there velcro or a zipper?

It's not too hard to put on, kind of shimmy it on a little at a time.

No velcro or zipper, just slip it on slowly.

Has helped my nervous horse but not a quick fix. I couldn't even lope a circle on her without a buddy nearby, or even sit in the holding pen before trying it. It's important to get the right size. I just sent a head shot and size was determined. Just put it on like a sock over their head.

Me too. I've seen pictures of people running their horse in the full suit.

I know a few people that swear by them. But they leave them on for about 3 hours prior to running in them.

I bought a PHT Morgan Mask. I haven't experimented with it enough to have an opinion one way or another yet. But as much as I love PHT, I'm excited to see what it does.

I know nothing about them for calming effects....

But they are a lifesaver when your horse is recovering from surgery with a few holes in his face.......not just to hold the bandages in place but the compression IS for a fact helping keep the hole closed and healing.

I'm a cheap a$$.....so I definitely would not buy one lol, plus too many people have them for sale on groups that makes you wonder if they actually do work...or if they are just another fad...and I'm gonna go with "its the new fad" lol

Just my opinion but I think they are just another gimmick.  I feel like if people spent more time riding the fresh off their horses during the week, they wouldn't be so nervous/excitable at races on the weekend.  I have a friend who listened to a sales pitch from someone whose job it is to sell products and bought one for each of their horses.  Did nothing for them!  Of course their horses are on full feed plus who knows what all supplement, kept in a stall 24-7 and maybe exercised once a week....maybe.  No wonder their horses act like fools on the weekends.
