I will go first $ 58,500 this does not include any sales tax!
I should have waited for friday to look at this so I could have a drink or twelve. |

So is this your personal state and federal taxes? Plus personal insurance, like house and vehicles and maybe health?? |

it is only bragging if you actually have money left over after paying all that! not sure why that post is bragging but not the I make 6 figures, I buy 30 + K horses, I spend bla bla on entry fees or take this and that vacations. I have never been jealous of someones light bill being more than mine. or the young people that pay more to insure their mustang than i do for my truck. oh wait you mean I can get peed off at cancer patients that pay more in medical bills than I do. I live in california and pay way to much in taxes. I got to thinking about as the new gas tax starts today. none of that was in my estimate though |

yes all that. property taxes are a killer and insurance for the house, flood, fire and earth quake. I also have to pay extra for living on a mountain for fire.dmv is crazy here. I also have life insurance, health insurance, cancer insurance...disability insurance...personal liability insurance |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | If you live in California and only pay $58K in total taxes and insurance, you probably don't make as much as people think, plus there's the cost of housing, cost of living, etc... I suggest you get a second job. |

| I have all of the numbers in my yearly budget, but I'd have to look and do the math. And honestly, I don't really want to because it makes me angry! We have property taxes in KS, so I have to pay a sales tax on items, and then a yearly property tax just for owning them. That one really gets to me. But I understand, by the time we pay health, life, and accidental insurance, then house, vehicle, trailer, and ranch insurance, and then the taxes, I wonder how we'll ever retire! |

this was my point. I think because they spred all those taxes around and call them fees we really do not realize how much we have to work just to pay taxes and insurance which really is a tax since it is required. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | In all seriousness, it is absolutely mind boggling how much we all pay for insurance, combined with all the taxes (including those that are hidden and part of the cost of all goods and services), fees, and surcharges. If you include auto, home, and health insurance it's just crazy. Look at things like cable/satellite TV, phone, gas, utilities. Look at the fees and surcharges. Look at property tax. Then all they charge you for "permits" to do certain things with your property.
I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually charge a tax every time you fart... Oh wait.....I guess that's already in the works, isn't it?
Look at the impact of product liability insurance on goods and services. Look at Gas tax.
Sorry that was such a random rant. I hate this thread. |

Location: East Texas | It will tick you off if you really start to thing about it. When added all up, I (and prob most of you) pay over 50% of my income in taxes. Income tax, property tax, sales tax, fuel tax.....just too many to list. All I know is our country fought a revolution over far less taxes. |

| Here's one you'll LOVE! My dad passed away in Feb of 2016 - he had an income tax refund coming of $10,000. The IRS send the PAPER check, the post office (small town), knew he had just died, sent it back (that's protocol). I have been trying for almost 2 YEARS to collect that refund. I have finally had to hire a lawyer. We called them in Sept. - yep, they knew they owed, so they'll send a check in 4-6 weeks (must use pony express), so 6 weeks pass and NADA (imagine that). So I call the IRS AGAIN (conference call with my lawyer at $350/hr), oh yes, they see someone tried to issue a check but there was a computer "glitch" they will work on it. When my lawyer asked if they would be paying interest (because you know ****ed good and well if I OWED it, I would have to pay interest) - yes, they will pay interest and guess what?? - I'll get taxed on THAT! If I DO actually get a check THIS year, I will be shocked.
The whole thing burns my A$$ to no end. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Shoot we are nearly $6k just for insurance for my husbands Semi and 3 trailers. I don't want to even add up our personal vehicle & health insurance etc etc much less taxes. Obama's America screws the working class. Hope taxes and insurance can change with Trump.

Location: Montana | We don't have any sales tax in Montana, but since we've been here our property tax has gone up 300%, and in the last year alone because of hail, our insurance has gone up a similar number. Our business insurance is right about $10k now, then we have personal and home insurance on top of that. We probably spend close to $20k a year on taxes and insurance. Needless to say, we are about taxed and insuranced to death.
