Location: Kansas | I totally missed something somewhere. I thought the idea of Muslim women immigrating to the U.S. was to enjoy the freedoms American women do......but now we have Barbie dolls wearing scarves around their head and shoulders so the little girls from Islamic countries living here in the U.S. won't feel left out. So why did they come here?

These families are supposed to assimilate to our way of life. Check out Dearborn Michigan where the Muslim population has taken over and even the architecture of new buildings is Middle Eastern. St. Paul has a little Somalia. They do not recognize our Constitution and believe Sharia law should be the law of the land in the U.S.

Women can drive
Women can show their ankles, knees, and elbows outside their clothing
Some Americans eat pork
We have a constitution of the USA
We don't put people to death for homosexuality, Federal law now recognizes gay marriage
Women don't need to be accompanied by a man to be out in public
We vote
Just to name a few

ABSOLUTELY!!!! THats why I am never going to live in one. Even visiting I think we should respect the customs of those places we visit weather or not we live there or not permanently. If you choose to live in a Muslim country, you need to follow THEIR RULES, when you live here, you need to accept ours PERIOD. |

Please explain where in our Constitution does it state that no one can wear a hijab? That is a symbol of their religion .... much like Jewish men who wear yamulkes, beards, etc; Catholic women, in the past, were required to wear a head covering ..... we are a nation of diversity..... That being said, regarding the new Barbie....why not? For many years, little African American girls had to play with the blue eyed Barbie until Mattel woke up..... |

| The way I see it, Mattel is a private business, and they should be able to do what every they want (within our laws) to make money. Put a hijab, fake boobs, no boobs, I dont really care, If I dont like it, I wont buy it. This isn't a decision about cultural sensitivity, it is a business decision.

It's a religion that believes we are infidels who should be destroyed. It's a religion whose beliefs are responsible for 3000 deaths of American citizens on September 11.

I don't really care about dolls. Just don't expect me to change my ways.
I'm undecided on if people making dolls or putting up mosques is infringing on my ways or not. No more than the Jehovah's or Mormans coming over for a propaganda visit. |

Granted that I came here voluntarily and from Europe but still, I never tried to impose my culture to anyone. IMHO when you go to another country, you adjust and RESPECT the customs of such country (now at your own house you do whatever you want to of course).
Now, being the devil's advocate, The United States has always been "a melting pot of different cultures" right?. Nonetheless, things lately have gotten so out of hand. The notion of ENTITLEMENT has taken over everything and everyone, so sad :( |

Entitlement drives me crazy.... why do I even work when I can go get my phone, education, medical care, etc for FREE.. Thats right, I have to work so others don't have to.
Which reminds me, there is a benefit coming up for a person who's horse had to have colic surgery .... can't afford the vet bill. Whole nother story.

Are the little girls of this culture (Muslim) allowed to play with Barbie? I have no clue what their cultural rules on this are. One would think as strict as they are that it would be Americanizing them, which they don't want.
So if they can't...........what then is the point. |

we had a lot less problems before we had Hyphenated Americans.
