| My 8 yr old son was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer this afternoon. I brought him into the er yesterday because he fell off a trampoline and hurt his side, which he had injured a few months ago during football where he was diagnosed with a "bruised lung" he seemed to have healed up from that but falling from the trampoline he said he landed on the same side and was in a lot of pain. They started doing x rays and ultrasound and they discovered a large mass on his kidney. I knew something was wrong when the different Dr's kept coming in and looking at him and ultrasounds. One dr pulled me aside and told me they found something they didn't like. They ordered a CT scan and it did confirm that he had a large mass there. We are admitted in the hospital and he had surgery today to get a biopsy of it and also get a port put in. The surgeon informed us that the tumors had spread into his lungs and it is indeed cancer. Chemo and radiation are in his future. We won't know how agressive we will need to be until next week when they get the results in. I'm asking for prayers for him and for my family we are absolutely devastated. My baby had zero signs of being sick he was a healthy very active 8 yr old boy. |

| His name is Jacob. The dr told us we may be able to go home as soon as tomorrow to let him rest until we get the final results. Treatment may start as early as next Friday. I have probably slept only a few hours within the last few days. Trying to hold back my tears in front of him so he doesn't get scared. He knows he's got bad stuff inside him and we are trying to get it out. Thank you very much for the prayers. |

I hope you have a good support system of friends and family.Β You sure will need it.Β HUGSΒ
The outpouring of love, prayers and support from our community, family and friends has been amazing. He's pretty heavily sedated from surgery so he's doing a lot of sleeping. I'm thankful for his team of Dr's here and the Dr's in the er who were thorough enough to spot the mass... had I not brought him in for his fall we wouldn't have found out. He showed no symptoms of having a tumor or let alone cancer. My world completely turned upside yesterday and the emotions I'm dealing with are indescribable, thank God my husband is here with us, he's been my rock thru this. I just pray that this cancer is favorable because if it is, there's a 85-90% cure rate with very light chemo. If it's unfavorable, he will need more invasive treatment. I want my son to be ok, I want to take his place he doesn't deserve this |

| First of all, never underestimate the power of prayer. Check with your doctors about getting him to St Jude's. They are cutting edge. Treatment is free. For the rest of you, give to St Jude's when you can. It is one few places I donate. There are so many new treatments now that are very effective. Prayers for your family and prayers to guide the doctors. |
