Does anyone know what is going on with the Tami Semas saddle? I saw yesterday that Jackie Ganter announced her new line of saddles with Jeff Smith, and was reading the comments and Jackie said Tami no longer has a line with Jeff Smith. I thought they were really popular.. did she find a new saddle maker?

She did find a new maker but hasn't announced who it is yet. To me they looked like Cactus saddles but could be wrong.

I was really looking forward to her new line because she said they did some modifications to the tree. Her line with JS didn't fit my horse at all so was looking forward to the new ones but apparently you're not supposed to say her saddle didn't fit your horse or you get removed from her saddle Facebook group and blocked from her personal page.

Really quite confused and somewhat floored as I've never met her or spoken to her. Didn't bash the saddle at all either, I loved the quality and how it rode on my one horse but didn't fit my main horse whatsoever.

Guess I'll take my business elsewhere if that's how they do things. So strange.

Well that’s a nice way to lose business!

the value of her jeff smith saddles sure has tanked I paid $3500 for mine, didnt fit my horse and was still in almost new condition. sold it for $1900 just to get rid of it because I got pretty much no hits on it. none of the other ones in the facebook group were moving either.

not sure if its because she announced the new maker or because people didnt like the drama she was starting on facebook and didnt want to buy them. I was just happy to finally get rid of mine even if I lost a ton

I bought mine last December used for $2500 and got $2600 for it when it didn't fit. But I've noticed now none of them are moving. Strange.

mine didn't fit either.... I tried asking her advice about it and would get zero response. She won't give out information on saddle specs... maker.... nothing. It's all a secret. Strange way to do business. Mine was like new and I lost a ton as well.. I just wanted it gone.

She’s not the best to business with.

When I got my new mare I had a hard time getting anything we had to fit her. I saw on Facebook she said to some people if you send her photos she could suggest which tree to get. I emailed her and asked her if I sent photos if she could suggest a standard or wide (I just wanted to check to make sure she could do that) and she said yes. I sent some photos and never heard back from her.... So, I ended up spending the same amount of money to buy a Roohide and got customer service that is probably some of the best I've ever had. Plus, my saddle fits and rides like a dream! All of the Pozzi trees roll on my mare, so I'm guessing a Semas would probably have rolled too.

There has been a lot of drama going on all year especially regarding the used saddles group. I noticed yesterday the announcement was removed from Facebook so I'm beginning to wonder if the new deal is getting pushed back or has fallen apart. I have never owned one, just window shopped. I'm a double j fan.

On the flip side I thought it was cool for Jackie to get her own line out of the deal.

I agree, I think she'll give much better customer service.

I've also noticed Jeff Smith himself getting a lot more involved with his customers. One girl posted her JS saddle she'd just gotten because it was too small and she didn't want to pay the 10% restocking fee. Jeff got on there and said he'd take the saddle back, no fee, and build her what she wants.

I just ordered a new JS too and the stitching on the back cinch wasn't the prettiest. I emailed them and Judy said ship it right back and we'll get a clean cut one sent right out. Thought that was pretty cool.

I've dealt with Martin and Burns Saddlery as well and they've all been absolutely phenomenal as far as their customer service goes. I can't believe Tami can get away with the way she acts with how many other companies there are out there that far exceed what she puts out.

I’ve known Jeff personally since I was really little. He got started with a tack trailer going to horse sales and such, and I don’t figure knowing his integrity and level of customer service that he put up with Tami’s attitude very well. She’s not the easiest person to deal with.

There's been a lot of talk about the C3-Jeff Smith saddles. I sat in one and really liked how it felt. They are pricey. The only thing that I find strange is that there's no "real" measurements. You send a picture of your horses back and they tell you whether or not you need a wide or regular fit tree. Surely there has to be a better more accurate way to measure for these pricey saddles.

On the new Jackie line of saddles, she posted the tree sizes:

Narrow is 6.25" gullet
Regular is 6.5" gullet
& Wide is 6.75" gullet

I have 2 flat backed horses and love my Charmayne James wide tree saddles. They fit awesome.

They openly talk gullet widths - regular is 6.5, wide is 6.75, and they can make an x-wide on a 7. I’ve chatted with Cheri about the C3’s and they don’t give out other measurements because of copies, but she did say they have one of the wider bar flares on the market.

I found someone at a bigger race who had one to try and love it, rode it one day and then made a competition run in the next day and made my fastest run of the weekend.

Flat backed as in wide side to side or flat front to back like she needs less rock in the bars?

Ditto, no help at all when I mailed pictures so I bought a Roo too, unbelievable how good my Roo  fits and feels.  Although I had a very good fitting Caldwell for my other horse I ordered another Roo for him too I loved the other one so much.

I've been interested in the Roohide saddles too...I'm also anxious to hear about the new Stingray saddle by Martin....I have these (3) brands that I would love to check out:

C3-Jeff Smith
Stingray-Martin
Roohide

I have had the same saddle now for about 8 years and love it. I'm just looking for something different to try...
