Nellie & Hailey showed the world the power of driftwood bloodlines once again.

Nellie and Sister both look kinda tiny. As the owner of two short mares, how tall is Sister?

Short enough to tear up the T&M! The great big horses seemed to really strugle.

If you watched the comparison video of Cassie Mowry's and Hailey Kinsel's runs, it was pretty clear that the difference was the run off the third barrel.

I also couldn't believe the speed even between the barrels on the overlay video.

Somehow I think ROYAL SHAKEM that is two generations back might have a little more influence than DRIFTWOOD that is five generations back.

Which Sister??

The short Dash Ta Fame roan tip toes to hit 14.3 HH

The taller PC Hayday palomino tip toes to hit 15.2 HH

I believe the point that was being made was BOTH mares have Driftwood blood in them.  Royal Shakem is only in the palomino mares line.  Where as they both carry Driftwood

How many top rodeo horses have Royal Shakem in the pedigree?? How many have Driftwood?? I have a feeling you may be surprised. As a teacher I would expect you to be more aware how facts improve understanding, and how ignorance limits you.

Every horse that goes back to Frenchmans Guy has Driftwood somewhere back there. My point was that a horse 5 generations back really has very little influence on that particular horse's genetics. By my calculations about 3.125%.

Easy Jet and Dash For Cash are the most prolific sires out there. So yes, there may not be many Royal Shakem horses at the NFR but there seemed to be quite a few that go back to Dash For Cash (particularly Dash Ta Fame, First Down Dash)or Easy Jet primarily through Streakin Six. (and others)

Funny thing, I just had a conversation with two completely different people this past week. Both said exactly the same thing about how prolific Easy Jet and Dash For Cash were. I even asked them how well they knew each other because they said exactly the same thing. I guess there are a lot of us ignorant breeders out here.

Thats a good point on Frenchmans guy. So a question for you...does every horse that only contributes3.125% have the exact same impact on the subject horse? or do some carry more weight?

And some people laughed at me when I changed up my breeding program to cross high % driftwood mares on running bred stallions. Need you say more, look at Sister ' Nellies" mare & her pedigree. Dinero, so he is 3 % Driftwood, the blood is there. Can't fault Hailey's mare. I love a good race / cow bred horse. They have better minds & conformation. I won't go into the driftwood horses I have bred & what they have won & done, but I will say, I am very proud of the horses & their owners.

But the Hancock 6 generations back will get blamed for one that may buck lol... it's all in the eye of the beholder...   People will either give credit or blame... lol    either way, these mares were fun to watch! (Ps... Nellies horse has some Hancock in her ;)

I think bottom line both horses are bred well and have a lot of old foundation blood contributing to who they are.
