| Our crappy desktop computer is finally going bye bye.
I want to replace it with a basic but quality laptop. We do most of our internet browsing on our phones but with a growing side business I need to be able to track things for taxes and create invoices and quotes etc, I’d really like to be able to use Quickbooks.
It doesn’t sound like a cheap Chromebook is going to be able to do what I need it to, we don’t have internet at the house and just use our phones, which aren’t always the quickest so I’d rather have the desktop Quickbooks vs the cloud...
Suggestions? |

| I have an HP touchscreen laptop too which I like. It just takes forever to start up, so I leave it on all the time. |

Location: Southeastern Idaho | We just purchased a new laptop for the ranch. Lenovo ideapad for around 400.00 dollars from Best Buy. We do not need a ton of bells and whistles. Mostly internet access and spreadsheets. We do use Quickbooks on the ideapad. Everything we looked at had a touchscreen now, as does this one. So far so good. I work online from home and have 2 Lenovo's. A Thinkpad that work bought me and a Yoga that I purchased. Like them both.

| Trying to avoid the touchscreen...having trouble doing that but I had one on my old work laptop and it did nothing but annoy me...mostly because of the work I did and people always touching it to point things out on maps...but it made me not like them!!! Haha |

Location: Southeastern Idaho | I don't like them either! My Yoga and the Ideapad have touchscreens and we haven't used them once. I hate gunky looking screens. No finger prints here. |

| I just purchased an ASUS laptop a few months ago thinking my heavy old Dell laptop was aging. I miss the Dell, a lot. The ASUS is bigger and lghter with a full keyboard and 10-key but it is slow to boot up, and slow to run. It does what I need it to do but my 7 year old Dell is faster. In hindsight I should have gone to Costco and bought an HP or something with a faster processor. Hindsight you know. Good luck! |

Location: Deep South | My sister and I both bought the touchscreen HP laptops for school and within 2 years both had completely crapped out. These were lightly used, internet searching, writing papers and such. I was pretty disappointed. |

I hate my hp as well. It works but I never use it. I wish I’d got another dell instead. Mine is nearly 10 years old and still works. |

I don’t think I can run the desktop version of Quickbooks on one of those so not an option...
So far I think Dell is winning, which that’s what my last 2 work laptops have been and I’ve been pleased. |

Location: SW North Dakota | I had a high end HP laptop (non-touch screen) that I bought 5 years ago and LOVED. Someone stepped on it this summer and broke the screen, so I went to WalMart and bought a $500 HP touchscreen laptop. I hate it, and want to cry over the loss of my old HP all over again! It's miserably slow and a nightmare to use. I am looking, too. |

Location: Louisiana | I have a Toshiba that I like. Not sure the model but it's touchscreen and disconnects from the keyboard to make a big (giant) tablet. I don't use those features LOL, but it's lasted me a few years now.
I got it from Best Buy. It was a return. So the seal was broken on the box, but they go in and "test" them before selling again. Anyway, it was like 1/2 price and a much better computer than what I went in looking to get, i.e, the cheapest one LOL.
So I guess my suggestion is to ask about any returns they may have. And I have always gotten good sales service from the computer side at Best Buy...just tell them what you're going to be doing with it and you want cheaper but functional. |

| I have a bunch of inexpensive Dell laptops at school. They have been dropped and everything else. I bought one that was nicer for myself. I do like it. Will never have another HP. Junky. |

Location: SE Missouri | I have a Microsoft surface, HP touch screen desktop (the slim line kind- just screen and wireless keyboard & mouse), and a Samsung laptop (probably 3-4years old). My surface and the HP are my favorite. I’ve been working w/surface for 3 years so I’ve gotten use to it and really like the flexibility with it.
I did love my Dell and it lasted for 8years or so! |
