| I am putting in a new kitchen and will be getting a farmhouse style sink, just not sure if I want to go with a fireclay or copper sink β what do you have and would you do it again? The fireclay looks a little hardier, but I think the color of the copper would fit better..
Also, what kind of countertops do you have?
The overall house look is rustic/cabin like if that helps!

| I have a copper sink in the bathroom...it always looks dirty, every little bit of soap scum or toothpaste that doesnβt get rinsed cleanly shows on it. Just a thought. I thought I wanted copper in my kitchen too until we put it in the bathroom. Maybe other finishes are different.
I have no experience with fire clay?
We went with a low profile stainless steel single basin and skipped the apron front. I love it.
We went with laminate countertops this time around. The cabinets were salvaged and I painted them and while they look good now, theyβre either going to look okay in 5 years or look like crap and weβll invest the money in redoing all the cabinets and then going with a higher end countertop. |

Location: Wisconsin | I have a cast iron apron sink covered in white enamel. It is made by Kohler. Love it. I do have to wipe it down after use to keep it looking white--but it is not any more maintenance that a white bathroom sink. I use the norwex cleaning paste when I want to give it a good cleaning. |

Location: In The Land of Cotton | Copper looks ugly after a while. Unless you have the time to clean it, other then just wiping it down. I like the cast iron Kohler farm front. Works great for us.

| Oh yes, I forgot about the cast iron. I liked that one too. How does the finish hold up to scratches/dropped pots? |

| How is the butcher block holding up? I really REALLY want them, but not sure if I'd end up ruining them if water was left on the counter! Can you tell me what they cost you? |

I love my butcher block! The great thing is, once the get scuffed, scratched, and stained up, I can hit them with a sander and reseal them. They will be like brand new! So far no flaws with them though. We bought them at a local discount store. They come in 10ft sticks and I had to buy two. $156 each plus tax. Then I had hubby install. I sealed them myself with Waterlox original sealer. I think the can was $46 plus tax from Amazon. |

Location: KS | I thought I wanted a copper sink as well when we were building, the more I read on them is they do not stay the same color. Some like the shiny copper, some like the dull worn out look, you get both eventually. I opted for an undermount stainless and love it. I went with a full sink in the kitchen and a double in the mud room. I like my one big sink and wish it was in the mud room at times, but handy to have that divided smaller sink a lot of the time. |

Location: Ohio | I have a copper sink in my bathroom and agree it looks dirty more often than not. I am getting ready to finish my kitchen and have been considering soapstone as I really like the look of concrete farmhouse sinks. I was looking at the native trails sinks that look like concrete but have been scared away by many negative reviews. |

Not well! My parents have a white one about 10 year old and itβs stained to no end. It also had a big chip come off on the side we donβt even use much and yes they scratch. They are replacing it with stainless steel. I really think itβs the only way to go in the kitchen. I think I will latch on to the old one for a utility sink tho! |

| Copper sinks really always look dirty, I had one, and I never liked it. Of course, there are some good cleaners which can keep your sink always perfect, but no everyone knows about them. Here is a nice article about the best kitchen cabinet cleaner, I read it, and chose nice cleaners for my kitchen due to the surface, and got the information about useful tips for keeping the kitchen clean.

| We just put in a fireclay sink a couple of months ago and really like it so far! Ours came with grates in the bottom to protect it. I don't think we HAVE to have them in there but I would rather drop something and the grate catch it than the bottom of the sink. |

I have butcher block and it does not wear the best. Had a copper sink once. It was impossible to clean. It looked cool when we first installed but it turned green and brown. Would not get on again. |
