I know many here feed alfalfa cubes. I did for a long time and just started back. I went into Tractor Supply to grab a couple bags and noticed they now carry their own "Dumor" line of alfalfa cubes and pellets. (If they did before, they weren't in my store.)
Anyway, I bought the "premium" cubes (I think $1 more than the other "regular" bag) for $11.99 and the quality in the bags I got is GREAT. I was prepared to soak them if they were bricks, but they were soft and very easy to break up!
Just wanted to share since I think this is a fairly new product. |

I got the Standlee once a year or so ago...they were HARD.
If you like the combo cubes, Dumor had several different options. |

The gal at TSC said all their DUMOR products come off a Purina truck. Not sure if they are making them? |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Never was a fan of the Dumor products. None of my livestock would eat anything Dumor. I tryed a bag of alfalfa pellets once they ate it a few days but then after the few days they decided they didnt like it.. |

Hmmm....I'm going to look into that! I need to look more into the Dumor brand anyway, but I was on a time crunch and had to get something. I got them to hold me over to something "better", but if the quality stays the same I'll just keep buying them. |

| I'm happy with Hayrite products here in North Texas. A habit I've developed is putting the cubes to be fed in a 5 gallon bucket, pouring hot water on them, and letting them expand in this water until the next feeding. The time period ends up being about 10 hours. I'm just really paranoid about cubes, and softening them eases my mind some. |

Location: North Dakota | I Buy the dumor alfalfa-Timothy pellets. They are smaller and softer than standlee. I tried dumor a few years ago and the quality was not the same as it is now. They must have worked on things because it is a lot better now. |

Location: Middle TN | I tried the DuMOR Alfalfa cubes this week as well and my horses loved them - was surprised. I stopped using their feeds last year - trying to save a few bucks cost me top line. I wasn't expecting my crew to like the cubes - but they were out of Standlee cubes. Maybe they went ahead and ate them because it has been in the single digits here.  |

| I have been feeding these for the last month and my horses love them. I am soaking them in hot water and they are so green and break up super easy. |

I should have been more clear, sorry. I meant does anyone know where Dumor gets their alfalfa for the cubes? |

| I picked up a bag of cubes today after reading this thread. I have a COPD guy that can’t have hay and he has been getting Hayrite. He eats then great but they are so hard and he won’t touch them if I soak them. I hope he likes them they ate so much softer than Hayrite. |

The ingredients listed have preservatives.. even in the whole oats. Not feeding that. |

Location: never in the right place | not hay cubes but I was given a bag of Dumor treats. My horse wouldn't touch them, I got another horse and he ate it but curled his lips and spit it out. Gave it to a friend because i saw she had some Dumor of her own and her horses wouldn't eat them either. bag must have been bad. not sure I would buy Dumor anything |

Location: west of East Texas | My pigs eat whatever I give them. Last week it was Dumor alfalfa cubes because my husband went to the feed store for me. It was good and they seemed to gobble it right up. Isn't the DUMOR 50lb and Standlee 40lb? |

I had a older horse choke on cubes a year or so ago, so I quit them... But I have gone back and they are loving them! I haven't tried these in particular but I may (at least for the older horses because they are a little cheaper) but I always spray mine with hot water a few min before feeding them, I don't "soak" but I spray them down, I kinda toss them around in the bucket as I spray with hot water and in those couple min, they are nice, green and break up so easily... I don't trust cubes just to feed them with out any kind of water.... but if your horse doesn't like them soaked, try spraying them down with hot water. Worked for me anyway :) |
