Location: Armuchee, GA, NW section of Ga | My old stallion, now a gelding, has a very long thick tail. So long in fact it drags the ground, and I must trim it. Aside from washing and brushing it I do nothing, nothing. He is such a easy keep and not a slob. Great guy. |

| My sister trades horses for a living and I learned from her that feeding BIOMANE, washing with Equilocitys QUENCH, and Using EquiFuse Gleam before we brush and braid are the secrets to growing out a short mane and tail or maintaining a good mane and tail. A good mane and tail can make or break you when it comes to resell. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | Don't over wash or over handle, it breaks and dries out the hair. I like to keep a tail clean and in a 3 way tail bag. Also keeps them from sun damage and from beating them out from flies. I 2nd the EquiFUSE. The top show horse people are using it now. |

Location: Ohio girl moved to PA | I have a pally as well with a very long, thick mane and tail, He lovessss to be dirty so its a pain to keep clean. I cant stand taking him to a race with nasty hair so in the summer i normally give him a bath once a week. I just use pantene shampoo and conditioner lol. I also use quicksilver (i think is the name) and it keeps his tail WHITE! i get compliments on it allll the time. Takes out all the nasty stains and makes it look beautiful. I put up in a tail bag when i remember, but most of the time i leave out. i dont brush it often either, only once when he gets his bath. |

Location: Southern Indiana | The mane n tail shampoo and spray detangler works really well. The shampoo will make it clean and shiny and the detangler works great for when you want to brush them out. It works way better than showsheen. |

| Don't over do it on the brushing. When you do brush, begin at the bottom of the tail.
I've had good luck with the use of Mane and Tail conditioner. During the winter (when there's no flies) I coat the tail with a generous supply of Mane and Tail Conditioner, then braid the tail beginning beneath the end of the tail bone. The brail keeps the moisture in. With the mane I simply brush the conditioner in. |

| My horse naturally has a very thick mane and tail. I once accidentally cut her mane show horse short and it grew back within two months. Make sure you aren't over pulling when you comb them and don't over wash it. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | Of all of the various tail bags and tail protection methods I have tried...By far I like the tail bag from Biomane the best. It is simple to attach. Just braid the tail and put the bag over it. What makes it stay so well is the way the velcro strips attach. And...it has some little strips of material at the bottom to give the horse something to swat flies with. Just a solid product.
I'm 1 month into trying out the Biomane supplement itself. I took measurements and photos on day 1, and day 30. I didn't expect to see much difference since 30 days is not much and I'm skeptical of supplements in general. But...I knew from having to clip his bridle path more often that SOMETHING is happening. Sure enough...he gained over an inch in all measurements (3 mane measurement points and the tail). The hair coming in is soft and thick as well. So far so good. But the test continues. I'll post pics etc. at 2 months. |

Location: Illinois | I don't do anything for their tails, but I try to keep manes braided. I have always sued coconut oil, it'll make their tails grow 1 in a month if I keep them bagged and nice. But that's too much effort for me. Their manes grow some with it, it mostly helps the little broken hairs grow faster. After a few months the hairs break less too. I used to have to redo braids every couple days, but if I run some coconut oil through the mane my braids will stay looking new for about 2 weeks out in the pasture. And I have less breakage. Some people don't like it bc its greasy and the dirt will stick to them. I just wash them out before I go somewhere and if I'm stalling for the weekend I can still run a super light amount through the hair and it'll keep my braids perfect all weekend. I just like it mostly because it's less hassle than braiding all the time, takes an extra minute to do. This has kept me from purchasing BioMane, just because I can get decent results with a $5 jar that last me 4-5 months |

| my reiner friends all use argon oil. my mare rolled in something got her mane tangled put a few drops on oil on it came right out, no problem. |

| I LOVE MY TAILBOOTS!!!
I love that in the summer... they aren't beating their tails off on the panels when swatting flies. I only have to redo it in the summer maybe once a week or so. In the winter I love that they aren't dragging in the muck. I only have to redo them maybe once a month in the winter. I have had them for 9 months maybe. All 3 of my horses have LOTS of growth. I will have to cut tails off in the spring as they are all dragging the ground now! I was doing braid and vetwrap before... which worked well. But added up $$ when I was redoing it about as frequently but using 2 rolls of vetwrap on 4 horses everytime. I wasn't excited about the $25 investment... but I am a believer now. I have replaced the swishy thing on them once. But have been super happy with the results! |

I've tried the tail boots and they don't work well in the summer. When my horses swatted flies it caused big tangles at the base of the tailbones. In the winter they probably are great.

Location: Southeastern Idaho | I love my tail boot. Used it on a 2 year old in the pasture last summer who had a pasture mate chew her tail off. Note that we are the "land of the horse fly". She never lost it and her tail grew so much! The only issue I had was she lost the switch one day. We found it where it got hooked on a board in the shed and tore itself loose. Plucked it off and put it back on. No damage to the tail boot at all. I did make sure to take it out and reset it once a week.
Edited to say I have roped with the gal that makes these. She is an amazing cowgirl and so helpful if you are having issues getting them to stay in.

I just ordered one too. Never heard of them before but my Pali Gunner likes to poo in his pure white tail. Hoping this helps |

Location: never in the right place | thanks all. was going to order Bio Mane but will try the coconut oil. I comb tail from the bottom first, then sections to get the shavings out. He likes to roll a lot so gets leaves and twigs stuck in it.

What product would you recommend for a horse that has a very frizz mane and tail and then a horse that is light palomino with very white mane/tail?
Not looking to look like a show horse just look clean and maintained at the rodeos. |
