| I like chicken with roasted veggies - currently Iβm on a rutabaga kick, but Iβll make a sheet tray of roasted veggies on Sunday to take all week to work with chicken or lean ground beef. |

| Really if you watch your portion size and don't do like I do and overload on what you are eating. For instance if you eat pizza, eat one slice and eat some type of vegetable with it. If you have steak and baked potato have a small piece of meat and half a potato. You really need food from every food group to stay healthy. Just don't stuff every meal. If you have to get a food scale |

Location: Somewhere around here | I hate eating salad unless it's hot out. I just don't think our taste buds or bodies want something cold when it's winter. That being said, I do a lot of black bean burgers, oven roasted chickpeas, olive oiled covered + oven roasted veggies; Brussels sprouts, broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, and probably more. Just add your favorite seasoning/s before cooking (after with chickpeas) and it's probably the only way to get me (and my family) to eat vegetables without drowning it in butter!! You can find these recipes all online and they're super easy to follow. Just be careful with how much salt you add.

Location: North Dakota | Salad *can* be just as unhealthy for you if you are dousing it with a ton of dressing, so it's more about portion size.
Go for lots of lean protein and limit your carbs (and only from good whole sources -- no processed "enriched" stuff). Again, key thing is moderation on the carbs. And if you don't like uncooked veggies, no problem -- cook them then! Lots of steamed options out there.
I'm not one to recommend diets but I would recommend for you to check out the 21 Day Fix. Only because it teaches you how to eat clean and teaches you about portion size. Those are lifestyle changes you can learn from and carry on indefinately ... not just for the 21 days.
Also, nuts are great on-the-go snacks (almonds, walnuts, etc).
Fruit is good for you too, but do limit them because they are a natural source of sugar. Moderation!
I'm a fan of eating 6 small meals a day. That works for me. |

Location: Northern CA | Thank you all for the suggestions. Hoping they will help me get on the right track. I do completely agree with the everything in moderation, as there is no possible way I can stick to a "strick diet" and who wants to live like that anyways?! |

Location: Southern Indiana | I like salads but I donβt like to eat a lot of raw vegetables or fruit. I started a little over a week trying to eat better and exercise. Not riding during the winter has me feeling blah. Iβm trying to cut back on carbs and sugars and just make healthier choices. I agree itβs about balancing you plate and swapping out processed for whole healthy options. My favorite thing is to take a sweet potato slice it in half longways and place it face down on an oiled and lightly salted sheet pan. Bake on 350 for about an hour. It gets all carmalized. No butter, sugar, or cinnamon needed. Reheats in the microwave well. So yummy! Steamed broccoli with lemon is good too. Eggs are a really healthy choice and they are pretty filling. I swapped out my nighttime ice cream for a strawberry banana milkshake (using coconut almond milk with ice) and Nutella. Yum! |

Location: North Dakota | I like steamed veggies with season salt, lemon pepper, or Mrs. Dash sprinkled on top. Healthy fats should be incorporated in, such as salmon, some nuts, if you like it. When I’m strict there is nothing sugary or high in carbs going in my mouth. I drink shakes for extra protein, eat about 6-9 cups of fresh veggies either cooked or raw. No fruit, no potatoes, and only about 4-5 ounces of meat per day. I lost 50 lbs in a matter of months last year and have kept most of it off. |
