Both my horses pretty much refuse any of the β€œ all in one” supplements. Absolutely would not eat platinum or exceed. So decided to keep it simple. I decided to try lubrisyn and man.......... both of them are bucking , kicking , and feeling like a million bucks! Lol I can’t see how HA itself can have any affect on energy level other than just making them feel better. Anyone else see this in their horses? Thanks!

I haven't looked into it too much, but I saw a video that there are a few studies that show oral HA can help. So maybe it's making your ponies feel good.

The company states it is absorbed in the mouth and esophagus before it ever gets to the gut.

My vet said if it does what they say, it is the best option out there.

I have been using it 4 years as a preventative, and haven't had to inject, no sore joints, no windpuffs.

That will be our ultimate test. My mare usually gets hocks done twice a year so if she never needs them again that’s fine with me. lol so far I am very happy! My 4 year old had a couple wind puffs and they are gone !

Don’t mean to steal your thread but just curious how you guys are feeding it? Are you top dressing it or feeding it alone?

I squirt it directly into their mouth. That way it gets absorbed before it ever reaches the stomach. I think on feed it would just be carried to the digestive tract.

I've been feeding it for years to my horses, and feel it helps to keep them comfortable.

Now I started my 12yo heeler on it a month ago, and after about 2 weeks I saw a definite change in her. She now comes to the gate again to great me, and is just more active in general. And I just put it on her feed at night.

I believe it. I've been feeding Arthrocize and if I wanted to catch my mare after 3 days of being restarted on it, she'd do laps for ten minutes around me before being caught, just because she felt good. It had that affect on both mares. My gelding didn't have this reaction, he with HA alone he moved freer, but his THE performance gave him more of a pep to his step.

If you start looking at the ingredient list on most things, there isn't much that doesn't have perservatives.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Unless you have your horse at the factory at the exact moment the HA is extracted from it’s source you would need some type of preservative to keep it fresh to even make it to the store shelf.

Tell me about it.  However, I don't buy anything with preservatives if the ingredients are listed.

True. I think there are more natural preservatives out there, but they're probably more expensive =/

Β

Probably lol I have no idea I don't have the time to research every little ingredient lol I guess I should but just have to take the word of others who have used it long term the risk of the preservatives I think is less than invading a joint space with a needle few times a year

Lubrisyn is just HA period. According to the manufacturer it has a patented molecular weight that is highly absorbable.

I heard it can be tough on a horses belly and that one prone to ulcers should not be fed it?
