| Either an O ring snaffle, or a draw gag with a snaffle mouth piece.
I like simple. |

If I had to pick just ONE, this would be my pick also, with a dogbone.
It's funny bc I don't even run anything in a Jr. Cowhorse at the moment, but I know I could get by on each of them with one lol. |

| To tune: Loomis wire top with chain mouth
To run: Kathy James 3 piece mouth or the "craig brooks bit" lol might be winning out in a twisted snaffle |

| I've used a jr cowhorse chain mouth with copper roller on my gelding who is extremely light mouthed, and he likes it. A lady at the barn the other day said she couldn't believe I would use something like that on a horse, that it's very harsh. I have light hands, and he seems to like it..but I didn't think it was a harsh bit? |

| Ed Wright short shank dogbone, or an o-ring snaffle, like others have said. As long as we still get more than one pair of reins! I like my split reins, barrel reins and German martingales, any of which could be used effectively and swapped around with one bit. |

You're right, she's wrong. Chain mouthpieces are very gentle.
If you want to show her, lay a snaffle mouthpiece across her forearm and pull it back, then do the same with a chain and ask her which one felt more harsh. |
