Location: MN | What do you do for your horses who have a cough? I would just like to give him some relief. The pollen has just hit really hard within the last two weeks and it is terribly dusty in my area as I live on a dirt road. He does usually get a spring time cough, but I moved last fall and it is much worse this year than it normally is. Some days the cough sounds dry, others it does not. The only time he is coughing is when hes being worked or ridden but occasionally out in the pasture as well. I did go ahead and make an appt with my vet just incase it isnt cleared up in the next week and a half. He couldnt see us until the 30th. Good vets are very few, far, and inbetween up here |

Location: NE Texas | I'm a Cur-Ost fan. I tried everything out there several years ago, including several thousand dollars with several different really good vets, and couldn't get my guy any relief. He continued to deteriorate despite everyone's best efforts. In less than 30 days he went from a horse would couldn't take a deep enough breath to cough, even on high doses of ventipulmin and dex and after several steroid shots, to a horse who was thriving and doing well. Great product, great results, not to mention how it manages the inflammation in the rest of the body. Truly the only product you'll need. No more a scoop of this and a scoop of that. Plus, I changed his diet and removed all processed feeds. I do feel like that is HUGE in managing these inflammatory conditions and reducing allergies and other immune related issues. https://nouvelleresearch.com/index.php/articles/423-why-does-my-horse-cough |

| I really wanted the Cur-Ost to work but I couldn't get my mare to eat it, at all. I was wasting more than I was using.
After a lot of experimentation, Hydroxyzine tablets and Pala-tech FA granules every day, Wind Aid as needed before work; she runs on EquiPulmin and I have used Vicks and nose spray on her.
I would say go ahead and let the vet check him...make sure there is no underlying condition and that it is JUST allergies. |

I second this! I use wind aide with mine about 20cc every other day at home and 60cc before a run and vicks in her nose whenever I ride. It has helped her sneezing and coughing a LOT! I went about a week thinking she would be okay and she started coughing again, started back and 2 days later no coughing.
Never tried mustard or Clenbuterol. |

I have had a lot of people tell me I should try Equipulmin but I cant make myself spend $150 right now when I'm skeptical it will even work. Especially when I already have an appt with my vet. How do you like it? Everyone I've spoken with has said it got rid of thier horses allergies. I have been using mustard during the week and Wind Aid for runs. |

Well, I like it so much I became a dealer. I tried A LOT of crap before I settled on it. I also had sticker shock, but if it works, it works. We offer it in 32 oz so you don't have to make the gallon commitment right out of the chute.
It's herbal so you can continue using the mustard or even the Wind Aid during the week, then EquiPulmin 1-2 days before a run and pre-race. I think you'll see a difference.
I would keep your vet appointment. See what he says...then go from there. If you want to try it, feel free to message me. |

Thank you RedHead. I actually know a dealer in my area - I may try the 32 oz for the time being. Last night he sounded a bit 'phlegm-ish', easiest way to describe what I heard. I heard it after we ran and he sounded perfectly fine before our run. So he may have some phlegm hanging out but didnt cough nearly as bad last night after being on mustard and collodial silver for a week. He coughed maybe twice while warming up? Do you think EquiPulmin would help clear that up as well? |

IMO, if this has gone on for a while and you think the cough is producing phlegm, I would want to make sure there isn't a underlying infection, hence keeping the vet appointment. The EquiPulmin will absolutely help but if there is an infection you may need antibiotics followed by steroids for a short while. A scope, BAL, etc...is going to tell you what you need to know. Then, you can come up with a maintenance plan. |

No temp, nasal discharge is clear, acting his completely normal goofy self- so I'm praying there is no infection of any sort. I guess you never know with horses! Its been going on for about 2 weeks now but the mustard and silver have helped some this past week. |

Thanks Herbie. I do not feed processed feeds. I will look into Cur-Ost! |

Location: ARKANSAS | The BEST thing i ever did was buy an equi-resp machine and give my horse breathing treatments...last year when he got pnuemonia, i gave him breathing treatments 7 days in a row and it completely cured him of his cough, runny nose and everything...a friend of mine bought her horse one due to he has COPD and in his retired years and he is back breathing again.. I LOVE IT it helps my horse to breathe better when i run barrels as well |

I've been thinking a lot lately about the equi-resp....This is a first for me as far as a cough lasting this long for this time a year. Usually it is just the routine spring time cough he gets. That is great to know though! How neat that it cured your guy. |

 Nothing Comes Easy

Location: Texas | I've had amazing results with SmartPak Breathe! Since moving to the Hill Country my gelding's allergies have been horrible. Poor guy had a terrible cough last year with lots of yucky clear mucus. I show a lot so he was super succeptiable to secondary respiratory infections because of his allergies. He scoped clear, and his cough remained dry. I tried everything you could buy locally. Anihist, cough free, windaide, zyrtec, benadryl, etc. Nothing really helped. But after just 2 weeks of using SmartPaks breathe I saw results. He's only been on it a month, and I haven't heard him cough but maybe once while eating? And not once while riding or playing in the round pen. It's affordable and worth a try (: |

Location: west of East Texas | So how many coughs before it gets concerning? I've noticed one of mine cough randomly over the last couple of days. Just once or twice when coming into the barn at night. Once or twice when I turn her out. Once or twice when saddled. No runny nose or wheezing or runny eyes.... |

I know the horse like the back of my hand. So when his cough lasted longer than a week, I began treating with what I had at the time and made an appt with my vet. His cough has never lasted this long. Luckily, after another week of being on mustard, silver, and now Cough Free (although he hates this stuff) - we had no coughing last night. Knock on wood! Hope your gal has nothing serious going on.
