Location: British Columbia | If somebody hauled their 4 year old to a gymkhana and entered would they void their Colts 5 year old year?
Or does it have to be a barrel race - for money. |

Yep! If they entered the barrel race. Even if it was only for a ribbon. Doesn’t matter if there is money involved. Now , gymkhanas do sometimes offer “ training rides” in that case same as a time only and totally fine. |

Location: N Texas | Yep. I've known people who would exhibition at a playday but would never enter for this very reason. They cannot be entered in barrels ANYWHERE, just practice runs.
However, if they use the horse's barn name, I don't know how you would prove it.

| i know of it happening at a little barrel race 2 seperate horses someone tuned on in after they place in a furitity and happened at fort smith someone knew they where entered and waited until they arrived and made some phone calls. i say dont do it smeone you know will tun you in. |

If they actually ENTERED the barrel race event, then yes, it would be void.
However, if they did an exhibition or time-only ride, which lots of playdays/gymkhanas allow, they are fine.
Or if they entered in all the events except the barrel racing, they are fine.

Location: WI | At least ask the competitor or producer of the show you think this happened at. I've entered a gymkhana as a time only and you wouldn't have known by watching since I ran with the class and got a time. Just wasn't listed in the results and many times I don't think they ever get posted (at least at the show I went to).
But, yes if they entered a gymkhana barrel class you would be ineligible. |
