This may be a little quirky but has anyone gone to a guest ranch? When, where, pros/cons?

There are so many different options for dude ranches.  You need to pick what type you like - do you need children to be entetained, hay ride, nose to tail trail rides or more advanced fast rides?
What part of the country do you want to go?
I worked on a dude ranch when I was in my twenties.  I ended up in Texas because I spent spring break at a dude ranch (got married to a wrangler there, but that only lasted a year - however Texas remained).
I'm going here next months for the second time:   www.silverspurranchidaho.com

We do NOT want nose to tail. We are both experienced riders. Cattle work is highly desirable, no kids to entertain and would prefer more of an adult type setting. I don't need a spa, massage type place. Looking for more authentic atmosphere. Thinking later this summer so maybe CO, Montana, WY, etc but we are open to any ideas.

I have several thousand feet of pipe top rail to put in over the next few weeks.

Come on down and well get you going. I'll even call you dude if it makes the experience better for you

A friend of mine has been a couple of times in Vista Verde Ranch in Steamboat Springs, CO.  She loves it there, she is a good rider too.
Cattle drives can be a bit slow moving...

I went to Drowsy Water Ranch in Colorado for over 16 years. I'd go back every year if I could, but I can't afford vacations anymore lol. It's a mix of head to tail trails and moving some cattle. They also have specific adults only weeks. The last few times I went a white water rafting day was included, zip line, you can go hiking for a day at a nearby national park, and they have different activities each evening. Some weeks there's rodeos close by you can go watch. I learned how to ride there when I was 7 and went every year into my 20s. I thought after I got horses of my own I'd hate the head to tail, but I appreciate it so much. I really enjoy not having to worry about what I'm doing riding & focusing all on just enjoying the surroundings, and its walk/trot/lope too. I kind of like not having to steer sometimes, just being able to have conversations and listen to stories.

Why would anyone with horses, dirt and grass want to go anyplace where there's more horses, dirt and grass.   Why not a beach?

I live 5 miles from a popular beach town/ lake and haven't been there in 7+ years. Not my cup of tea.

We have horses, 4000 acres of farmground, and livestock - and I want to go explore and see how they do it out west.
