| Mainly asking for double header jackpots. Horse is fine once going through entire warm up again for second run but after standing tied to trailer for a couple hours after the first run, they aren’t as ‘loose’ per say. Horse has very recently undergone a very thorough lameness check and flexion tests, X-rays, etc have all checked out clear. Wondering about PHT, BOT, ice therapies, etc that are best to used between runs? Keeping in mind it is summer and I’m concerned about overheating legs possibly with certain therapies.

| My horses get previcox starting a couple days before , during, and day after an event. If it’s one day or 3, I follow this protocol. I do know people who give a dose of banamine 2 hours before they run. Banamine works great on soft tissue soreness bute works better for bone type pain. I like previcox because it has fewer side effects. Legend is also an expensive but good option. |

Location: North Dakota | I like the BOT quick wraps .... but not in the summer. Usually they are okay if I'm hauling in with the cool morning air. But if it's a double header, it's usually getting too warm by the second run.
I just bought a set of the CoolAid wraps and I love them. I haven't had to use them twice in one day yet, but it's easy enough to do so with some ice in the cooler. Of course, that's more good for the tendons/ligaments in the legs, but probably won't do much for keeping them loose.
But ditto to the above, HANDWALK! And lots of it. Walking around slowly won't tire them out before the second heat, but will sure help keep them loosened up.
If she starts acting "off" again, I wonder if it wouldn't be worth a shot to put her on Previcox/Equiox and see what happens? Seems to take about a week to fully "kick in", I've noticed with my horses. But if I were in your shoes, it would be worth a try!
