Looking for bit for a finished mare that is in the middle of free runner- push style. Harder you push, faster she'll go, but wont run by a barrel. Wont hit one if you don't push either. SUPER light in the face. No issues to fix (doesn't shoulder or anticipate). Rider has light hands, but not light enough for this mare. Time and trust will help but looking for a bit that will be soft but give some whoa in the alley way. Thinking short shank gag with dog bone. Mare not comfortable in hack, and simplicity doesn't have the whoa necessary for coming back down the alley

I used this bit for my horse like that. All the run in world, very fast, push as hard as you want and never ran by one. Very light, hated a shank, hated a nose band. I could get by with a locked snaffle in a little pen but needed more whoa in open space. I do have very light hands and this fits my hands very well. I’ve used it on multiple freer running horses and almost always love it. I actually have two of them because I use it so much. It was made by shallow creek buts and I actually saw them feature it on their fb page a couple days ago.

I would say my gelding is similar but I would describe myself as someone with very precise hands. He can honestly run in about anything, the only think I need it for is some lift on 2nd barrel if I need it. I am really liking my longer shank tender touch. It has more flex and less cheek pressure than the shorter shank but has the whoa or lift when I need it.

I used a junior cow horse twisted on my super honest, wont run by, push horse. She always came in hot, but would never run away. I liked the shank on that for reassurance to me that I could stop her if she ever changed her mind. But she never did.

If a CG Simplicity is too light, perhaps a CG Short Shank Double Gag? Protective of the horse but good whoa when needed. I love mine for my mare that doesn't need much except a bit of a lift in the shoulders going into the turn (but she doesn't actually SHOULDER the barrel, if that makes sense? Just needs a reminder.) She's also one that one that won't hit if you don't push, but the harder you push the faster she goes like the horse you mentioned above.
